What you also have to remember is the history of England in the world. It ran the world before we handed it over to Fat Yanks to have a go, so that's a lot of historically pissed-off people we're talking about there. Even an Englishman travelling to Scotland to fight a Scottish boxer is likely get the ****ty end of the Braveheart stick when it comes to officiating. And this despite the fact that both countries together are smaller than a state.

I'm not responding to the original thread's point of whether or not US boxers should travel as it's been done before and I haven't got time. What I'm responding to is your suggestion that the size of countries has an effect on boxers travelling between them. Joe Calzaghe fighting in Germany is a far bigger ask than an American fighting in another part of America, or even Calzaghe himself fighting in America. The small size of Germany and closeness to Wales does not impact on that.
Why not? Why doesn't the ease of travel have anything to do with anything? For an American to fight in Germany they need to be there a long time in advance to get rid of jet lag etc. but for a Brit, it's not that bad. No?

By the way, I don't appreciate being called a ******, but I won't call you any names back because I don't know you, so I don't know why you felt the need to resort to that. Let's be civil here.

Boxing draws bigger crowds in Europe than the US, and they could make bigger paydays...

Calzaghe actually left his home country of Wales many times, fighting in England, Scotland, Denmark, Germany and the US (twice).

But Dawson gave up his WBC title because he was afraid to fight a prime Diaconu in Romania, and instead chose to fight old Tarver in the US. The people who bash Calzaghe never mention that...

Is there a double standard for Americans and non-Americans?
yes there is a double standard... because if you fight in europe and you're not european you can't win a decision.

American Media ignored european fighters and prefered there american fighters to fight american tin cans rather than risk them against talented, but unknown european fighters.

Thus Fighters like Roy Jones and James Toney could fight Dinner ladies and road sweepers rather than the likes of Benn, Eubank and other european nations great super middleweights.

Nowadays all that bull**** has finished and money and hype wise it's an even playing field. Talent wise Europe and America are also tied.

Fighters from america AND europe should both look to journey overseas if they want respect. IMO.
I have no problem with that statement. Fair is fair. But I don't believe Americans should be discredited for fighting primarily in America, when there's plenty of money to be made and plenty of accomplishments to be had. Same goes with Europeans. I've said before, Wlad and Vitali don't need to come to America, they can make more money and accomplish just as much in Europe.

This is not true, Junior Witter has lost two unanimous decisions to young american fighters, in england.

Dude in this thread, in all the points as for dis advantages and cons of fighting abroad period - when was the travelling itself brought up. In terms of travelling time, time difference?

It wasn't because it's lower down the list than the other things that have been mentioned, but you refuse to clue up on. Your literally shooting yourself in the foot and it is rather astonishing I'm afraid to say.

Also European fans would like to see american fighters, Look at the reception Tyson got when he came to the uk and fought Francis, he got a hero's welcome, as did Barerra against Khan, as long as foreign fighters show a bit of respect they get it back and everyone has a good night.

Isn't it easier for Calzaghe to fight in Germany than Dawson in Germany?

                    You're pathetic, Pullcounter.

Even when an American fighter is dominated in Europe, some will cry "Robbery!"
