Why does Calzaghe get bashed for fighting in Europe...

When B-Hop, Mayweather, Dawson and many other American fighters WILL NEVER leave the US?

Boxing draws bigger crowds in Europe than the US, and they could make bigger paydays...

Calzaghe actually left his home country of Wales many times, fighting in England, Scotland, Denmark, Germany and the US (twice).

But Dawson gave up his WBC title because he was afraid to fight a prime Diaconu in Romania, and instead chose to fight old Tarver in the US. The people who bash Calzaghe never mention that...

Is there a double standard for Americans and non-Americans?

It is a double standard indeed. Many feel that the best competition is in the US but that's proving not to be true in many of the weight divisions these days.

Hopkins has fought overseas, for the record but only once in Ecuador.

It's a big disadvantage having to fight in another country. You really can't blame a guy for wanting to fight in his own country.

Becuase at the time Calzaghe shouldve been fighting the best (who were in the U.S) he stayed in Europe fighting Eurobums to pad his record out.

Whether there is more cash to be made in Europe I dont know but are you seriously telling me that when B-Hop and Jones reigned there was anyone from Europe who were better competition?

Do me a favour? He fought Tocker Pudwell for god sake.

Calzaghe is white, he automatically sucks even though he beat the best at 168 and then moved up in weight to 175 to beat the best lhw in Hopkins. Jeff Lacy was the next coming of Jesus Christ before Calzaghe whooped his ass, now Americans shun Lacy.

Probably because the US has been the centre of boxing for most of history, and that most of the fighters on the all time lists are predominantly American. I'm sure I am sure that if you have never played soccer against a Euro team and you are from Africa or Latin America you will be overlooked no matter how skilled you are.

**** on Bully, and imagine if you were one of those American teams and you ducked appearing in an annual match between the champs of Europe and the champs of Latin America?

                    Not once....but 3 times??
