I'm a PWill Fan but I really like Martinz's chances in this fight. He is good technical boxer with a lot of movement that could give Paul trouble such as in Quintana did in when they first met.

I'm positive that if you give him 3 months or the usual 8 weeks for training camp, dude could probably make 147 imo.
I can understand that .. Williams was planning on facing Pavlik before that option went out the window

but if Will was going to fight at Middle all along

why talk about fighting Clottey at 154 then?

point well made about training camps ...as even with a full month, it still might be hard for Williams to adjust the weight making

I was thinking the same thing. If he's over 175 no wonder they are not fighting at 154; the 175 seems a bit absurd to me.

Him walking around at 175 doesn't at all to me.......the guy is just a freak and can dehydrate and re-hydrate with seemingly no ill effects, but who knows this is the same guy who was listed as 6'1 but in reality is 6'3-6'4 and claims to walk around at 157.....should be an entertaining scrap between he and Sergio. I hope Sergio can perform well at the higher weight.

I wanted Martinez' belt to be on the line. Oh well, at least we get two good fighters going at it before the year is over.

In the next two months we have this to look forward to:

              Dawson-Johnson II November 7
              Cotto-Pacquiao November 14
              Ward-Kessler November 21
              Bute-Andrade II November 28
              Williams-Martinez December 5

That's one kick ass fight every weekend for five weeks straight!

To think Shane Mosley would have fought too if HBO hadn't ****ed him over. And they say boxing is dying...

Bull****. Williams and his camp are nervous enough to put Martinez at a disadvantage. They know Williaams will carry the weight good and Martinez won't as well.

Still more than a month out Williams can get down so that 'trained for a fight at 160' is bull****. Paul weighed in at 158 against Winky and that was supposedly after breakfast.

I heard Martinez didn't want to put his title on the line for such ****ty money, but this fight should have been at a 156 catchweight.

I am not too thrilled that Williams is fighting Martinez at Middleweight either, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt. And besides, I thought people wanted Williams out of 147 and 154. Am I missing something here?

Nothing wrong with the match-up at all. martinez is fine with the weight as well so that's ok. It's just that we need an explanation as to why 154 cannot be made for all fighters; that there's so kind of double standard.

They(me too) wanted him to exclusively compete against MWs, but this isn't too bad Sergio is probably the best in the world at 154 and who knows how well he will do at 160.....maybe the extra weight won't be much of a factor.
