I wonder how good Itauma really is

People hype him, but he fought nobody really. Everbody looks good fighting cans. Price also did. Berlanga also did.

Even if Itauma knocks out this very shot version of Whyte, it still remains to be seen how does he look like against top 10 opponent. Whyte barely threw any punch fighting Fury and that was 3 years ago.

I have to see itauma against Bakole, Ajagba, Hrgovic, this level at least, to get any oppinion.

I have to see how he reacts while fighting somebody who actually throws back. I have to see him fighting 10 rounds at least.

People are extremely critical towards Dubois, Parker, Kabayel, Hrgovic, Bakole, Zhang, but these guys are all tested. Itauma is completelly untested.

I think everyone thinks the same however its the way he countered that last guy he fought that was perfect timing in a split second and youd have to assume he can do that to anyone and therefore hes a dangerous threat to them all

      The hype pre-dates that fight.

He definitely passes the eye test, and anyone who has sparred him says he is seriously good.
Stories of him giving everyone hell in his school uniform.
        No smoke without fire.

But some questions he hasn't answered yet...
Can he fight on the inside?
What happens if someone pushes him back?
What happens when he gets hit without headgear?

Having said that, it's clear his speed and power are a serious problem for anyone. Throw in there his southpaw stance and you have all the makings of a boxer who could dominate.

I have nothing to substantiate my affirmation, but my gut feeling is that Itauma will be exposed as soon as the level of opponent increases seriously.

Humble pie will be eaten if I get this wrong.

Yeah but the hype is building and that fight got me hyped a bit too

I saw through price ect back in the day it was the way he finished someone cant remember who it was but before thompson when i realised he would get chinned

As of now though theres no indication from me that Ituama will get chinned anytime soon

I honesTly think from that last preformance he will humiliate Whyte and not be tested in the slightest

His footwork, timing and distance seems elite so far but only time will tell

But some questions he hasn't answered yet...

Who has been allowed to spar him all out? Because Ben Davidson stated that 'He does not allow Fabio Wardley or Anthony Joshua to spar with Moses Itauma all out'.

So who are those heavyweight fighters, you are talking about 'That have sparred him all out? He has fought nobody at a top level, and he has sparred nobody at a top level'.

I personally think Moses Itauma is clearly talented, but? People are overrating him slightly. He did nothing much as an amateur fighter, and really in the professional ranks we have not seen him pushed in a fight or made to show more of his game'.

I have stated this before 'Moses Itauma looks to have those Rid**** Bowe type genetics. But does he have Bowe's boxing ability?' For all we know Moses Itauma could be at his absolute peak now, he does appear to be one of those people who matured very early in life. And this has aided him making an impact and standing out as a fighter very early in his career'.

Note: Moses Itauma looks to have solid power, and a good ability to put his punches together 'That is it. I don't think that is enough to bestow him as the next Mike Tyson level talent in the heavyweight division'

I think certain people within the boxing community, working the media 'Have a incentive to put serious hype on Itauma. Because similar to when Anthony Joshua was performing very well and was on the ascendancy, the entire sport of British Boxing benefited from it'.

To conclude: I personally don't rate Moses Itauma as high as many other people 'I think David Price at the beginning of his career, looked to be a more formidable fighter. No matter what people say about Price, he was beating up and knocking out top level domestic fighters. He was once upon a time unequivocally the best British Heavyweight fighter, even Tyson Fury chose not to fight him and vacated his commonwealth title'.

I just sense that Moses Itauma if he is going to be a top level fighter 'His team and promoters will have to capitalize on his ability real quick. So it makes absolute sense to match him vs Dillian Whyte now and then if he can win? Move into European and Low World level fighters' etc.

He’s looks very good. He’s fighting guys who aren’t great but you can still tell he has something. AJ, DDD and Price still looked like stiff bums in their early fights even if they were winning by KO.

There are loads of questions though I agree. Can he take a punch because his brother certainly couldn’t. What’s his gas tank like etc

The latest British hype job getting groomed for a soft run at a post Usyk title.

I'm more interested in seeing if ol dillian has anything left in the tank vs yung mo.

Itauma is probably the best young Heavyweight on the planet. However, the Whyte fight is a good test and will show where he's REALLY at.
