This news confirms that Canelo will continue his career at 168lbs until the day he retires. He absolutely will not go near Bivol again, he is terrified of Benavidez and is blatantly aware that Beterbiev knocks him out. If Canelo did the unthinkable of skipping 175lbs entirely by going up to cruiser for a shot at low the lying fruit there, it would just cement to the world that he is without doubt the BIGGEST DUCKER in the history of boxing.

It’s why I respect Hagler for the number of years he stayed in the division long after he unified. Today’s “champs” hop from division to division, corrupt sanctioning bodies rank them and viola they are immediately ranked to fight for a belt.

David Benavidez best enjoy his time as a WBC Light Heavyweight Champion 'Because I honestly believe, it is imminent that he is going to be beaten. It would be best for Beneavidez to at least fight one of the super elite fighters in the division, like Dmitry Bivol or Arthur Beterbiev. Surely a fighter moving up into the 175 pound division, that would be their ambition to challenge the absolute best fighters in the division. And if they lose at such a level, while producing a solid effort Benavidez can still leave the ring with increased creditability on his resume'.
Note: But right now? I would suspect that a fight between Callum Smith and David Benavidez will potentially be made 'It is a fight where Callum Smith has everything to gain, more than David Benavidez. And thus far in Benavidez's 175 pound career, I don't think Benavidez is appearing like a monster fighter. He has been incapable of knocking out his two opponents at 175 pounds, only one of those fights has been against a borderline World level opponent Oleksandr Gvozdyk. David Benavidez vs David Morrell was not much higher than a domestic level American based fight, Callum Smith vs Joshua Buasti was a higher level fight in my opinion? Due to Callum Smith's experienced, and the fact that Joshua Buatsi was the WBO Interim Light Heavyweight Champion at the time of the fight'.
If David Benavidez does not fight Callum Smith 'I now see a possibility that Canelo Alvarez may decided to move back up into the 175 pound division. I have stated in many of my previous posts? That the potential fight between Benavidez and Alvarez should only happen at 175 pounds, due to David Benavidez not being an active Super Middle Weight fighter since 2023. Canelo Alvarez from my observation is motivated by business, and acquiring World titles. If David Benavides has been elevated to the complete WBC Light Heavyweight Champion, this makes him a target of Canelo Alvarez'.
To conclude: In regards to Arthur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol III 'Beteriev deserves to be granted a trilogy fight against Dmitry Bivol. Artur Beterbiev could have so easily retired after beating Dmitry Bivol in their first fight, but instead as a competitor he obliged to have a rematch. The fight between the two fighters is still the most intriguing and best match up to make in the entire Light Heavyweight Division. And the fight makes absolute sense for both fighters, it is the one fight were they still have the most to gain from a potential win' etc.

I'd forgotten that IBF was due first. So WBC is disrespecting the IBF, AND Turki, and Bivol with this. Sets a very bad precedent that may ultimately stand in the way of unifications.Smash

2. Bivol won’t get the same response as Canelo because he’d be fighting beterbiev. Unlike Canelo who instead of fighting Benavidez, picked a 40 yr old mw, a C level Brit, a junior welterweight, a c level Mexican and another c level prospect.
3. Canelo is as “white” as they come.
