This is false. I've said it before, Wilder was on a radio show and they brought up the fight to him. One of the hosts joked that AJ would only face him if he got to 50-0. You could immediately see the disappointment in Wilder's face and he followed up with, Whaaaat? Then the host broke out laughing and said, nah, he never said that. Wilder then burst out laughing and said, damn, you got me scared. His human reaction told a story in this interview and it gave me the belief that he truly wanted the fight all the time and it was always AJ the one that looked insecure when asked and was ducking Wilder like the plague.

I think even if AJ ever truly wanted it, Hearns would have denied it. AJ was Matchrooms true cash cow back then when Eddie had only AJ really. There was no way he was going to lose that and potentially ruin his business before it took off.

As things stand right now, AJ is certainly ranked below Usyk and Dubois, because they have both beaten him. Fury is ranked above AJ by Ring and TBRB, and I have no problem with that. But Wilder isn't ranked in the top 10 by either Ring or TBRB.

If AJ, Usyk, Fury and Wilder all retired without fighting again, Usyk, as the first undisputed champ of the 4 belt era, will be remembered in the same way as Lennox Lewis - as the best HW of his generation and era. And that's all that really matters. Nobody but boxing nerds are going to waste their time arguing about who comes in second, third and fourth.

So quoting promoters is imbecilic, yeah? Does that mean that all professional journalists and boxing writers are imbeciles? Because they all regularly interview and quote promoters, or write articles commenting on what promoters have said to other journalists. Where else do you think guys like Dan Raphael and Micheal Benson get their information from? Browsing comments threads at forums or underneath YT videos?

Yes, promoters all talk bull**** and tell lies a lot of the time. That's why I never take anything any of them say as gospel without knowing something about background situations or monitoring what happens AFTER they say something .. like, did they do what they said they were going to do? Did anybody call them out for lying, or contradict their version of events?

Regarding DAZN's offer to Wilder .. I knew that Lou Dibella, who was Wilder's promoter back then, had brokered a meeting between Team Wilder and the CEO of DAZN, to discuss a deal between DAZN and Wilder, which have would led to 2 fights between Wilder and AJ, if Deontay had accepted it.

I knew that Wilder had stated, multiple times, that he would not be part of any deal involving Eddie Hearn. That's why I believed Eddie when he later came out and said that he had not been present during the meeting, and the only part he played was to give his guarantee, as AJ's representative, that AJ would fight Wilder if the deal was accepted.

I know that Wilder rejected the deal, and the reason given by Shelly Finkel was that DAZN wouldn't tell them how much AJ would be paid for the fights. Neither Wilder nor any member of his team ever said anything about them rejecting the deal because DAZN couldn't guarantee that AJ would fight Deontay. That was something invented by Wilder's apologists after the fact. The broad details of the deal, including how much Wilder would have been paid, were widely reported by many news outlets, including BoxingScene.

Regarding what Frank Warren said about PBC's $50million offer to AJ. Warren absolutely, definitely, and indubitably did say that part of the funds would have come from BT Sports, and that BT agreed to put up the money because they were hoping to broadcast the fight in the UK. Several people, including me, posted links to that interview in threads at this site.

First bolded YES!! Second Bolded No, not at all. But journalists tend to understand where there is truth, and usually make conditional statements about negotiations. For example: "Promoter so and so ALLEGES that his fighter got a bum deal". as opposed to making unequivocal statements about such negotiations like: "Promoter so and so is a victim of bad faith negotiations." They quote a source Kafkod... That way they are not directly implicated if their source is bad. Walla your third bolded statement is absolutely correct! Just as I described... They "quote" so they can give people the information their source will share. Guys like Benson and Rafael have currency with certain boxing figures. But it is up to YOU to understand the difference between a fighter speaking genuinely about his experience, his POV, versus an iron clad understanding of how a contract was negotiated.

Promoters, (your second paragraph) have agency, sometimes a scope of Power of attorney, and the professional obligation to act as though their client's interests are an extension of their own actions regarding the client. This means they have no obligation to be honest, correct, or otherwise act in any way that does not make their client appear in the best light. It really has nothing to do with "lying" even... Regarding the Wilder situation... You are still only seeing certain aspects of the deal. Wilder himself probably does not know certain aspects of the deal. If his team is honest they are trying to get him the best situation, if not, which DOES happen, we see the liked of what Don King and Bob Arum have done to fighters. And when people put up any money for a fight, there are many conditions. We may hear about a few of them...
