A lot actually happened IMO ...

• Bivol resigning to fight Beterbiev's fight because Artur wouldn't leave him an inch to fight his...
• Beterbiev able to apply pressure like he usually does but unable to land the mighty overhand right cleanly ...
• Bivol's ability to evade the ropes at any time. I remember maybe 2 instances where Beterbiev was actually able to do his usual Body-Body-Head combos leaning on the ropes...
• Beterbiev suffocating pressure and activity...
• Bivol over-par defense not letting much go through but still getting painted from blocking the shots...
• Most of all, the lowest landing % ever from Beterbiev was enough to be on par Bivol's actual landing shots count...

Actually a fascinating fight from the Boxing 101 side of things... Would watch again !

I meant to say nothing happened in term of entertainment for the casual fan -- like it wasnt the kind of fight that get you off your seat. As I said, for us that been following or been involved in the sport, its different which is why I say it was highly technical. Bivol was making Beterbiev second guess himself out there in the early rounds. I thought Bivol did great especially at the beginning.

But Beterbiev showed up in the championship rounds, Bivol hasnt. Im looking forward a rematch -- Bivol deserves it.

I had Beterbiev 115-113 btw but pretty much everyone with me beside one guy that had it a draw thought Bivol won. Bivol will be mad at himself when he see that all he had to do was to win 1 round out of the last 3 for a draw.

Cant blame him though... those body shots from Beterbiev started to show.

Any fan with the capacity for rational thought understands that, once again, the problem with boxing isn't the judges, but rather the inane scoring system which poses four competing scoring criteria. These scoring criteria are not officially prioritized, so this allows scorers to pick and choose which criterion they want to emphasize and give primacy to while deprioritizing or outright dismissing the other criteria. Any thinking fan (even a rank noob) can understand how this would be problematic to fair and reasonable scoring. Among many obvious problems, the 4-criteria judging system allows scorers to adapt the scoring to their favorite fighter's style. If their fighter is a big puncher they would focus on heavy landed shots (as they should), but if their fighter is Jamaine Ortiz then they would likely prioritize the scoring of defense or ring generalship (the dumbest, vaguest criteria of all).

No other competitive sport does what boxing does. Imagine if basketball had a scoring system with four competing scoring criteria (points scored, defense, aggressiveness and floor management (aka ring generalship)? We could see winning teams who actually score less points win a world championship because they played like the Globetrotters. That would be ridiculous, but that's precisely what happens with boxing. Fix the dumb scoring system. The one and only scoring criteria that matters is Clean, Hard Punching. Everything else is incidental to this.

Bonus Suggestions: 1. Promote scoring even rounds for even rounds, instead of forcing a 10-9 round (what a concept) 2. Get rid of the arbitrary 10-pt must system.

Bivol face won't lie he knows Bet was a better man I think was too much respect for the old man.

I think that it's because people see everything in black and white while missing the gray. People want to be right , for some it's almost a need. It was a close fight and a reasonable argument could be made for either guy deserving the nod in my opinion. I was pulling for Beterbiev but I don't think that it's at all unreasonable to believe that Bivol won. I didn't score it while watching it , but at the end I really wasn't expecting Artur to get the decision.

yeah I didn't score it live either but also surprised Betterbiev got it. I honestly was thinking it was gonna be a draw. seemed like Bivol pulled out atleast 7 better rds than Betterbiev. no way Bivol only won 4 rds lol. these are 2 best guys in the LHW division for certain. nobody beats these 2. Betterbiev is a freak lol. he just keeps coming. scary mf'r.

I didn't see the fight but I'm glad out the outcome. Now hopefully Artur will do the right thing and move up to cruiser and free up the belts so the Davids and the other LHWs can go at it. Also Canelo should move up to 175 and let Jermall, Caleb, Berlanga, Munguia, Andrade and all the other 168s go at it!

Beterbiev won the fight by being the aggressor throughout. Bivol won 3 rounds and drew 1, 2 at best. Bivol only survived the 12 by pushing Beterbiev down at every opportunity. Beterbiev is an incredible fighter and his relentless pressure won the fight. I thought 116-112 was about right.

I hope Beterbiev moves up to Cruiser. It would be interesting to see if his power would carry the same weight. Bivol did what no other man has been able to do in taking Beterbiev the distance, he is a very good fighter in his own right and if he stays at the weight, he come again.

I'd love to see Beterbiev destroy Clenelo but Clenelo would be too chicken to take that fight. I think Beterbiev beats Billam-Smith and Zurdo. Opetia would be some fight.

I believe it would. I believe Beterbiev's power would carry all the way up to heavyweight, he's a naturally heavy puncher; he throws the type of of shots which accumulatively break opponents down & his head shots are concussive in nature. I genuinely believe Beterbiev would hurt various current heavyweights for eg the likes of Anderson, Chisora, wallin, Franklin, Pulev, Luis Ortiz etc

and you're entire argument was "Yeah Bivol shoe shined to steal rounds, but he never got stopped" Bivol gave away the last 3 rounds because he was broken down. Is what it is.

Go rewatch the fight again and get back at me. You are only saying this because Beterbiev is your guy.
