If Matthysse was a Gatti type, why was he labeled as the next Manny?

Gatti (rip) was never held in such high esteem. You guys are making the exact same point I amz

Loma lost his 2nd fight so I don’t think that was the case.

Yeah but it doesn’t always work like that. Another poster mentioned how when Loma showboats it’s celebrated. When Tank does it it’s criticized.
i dont really remember anything to do with ggg and andrade actually, were they even in the same weight class?

loma went straight into top fights after turning pro, it was very unusual thing, a good thing to do actually, why not if u think u can do it, if i remember salido also cheated on the scales and maybe even in the ring so loma got a bit of a pass for that one if i remember, it was also his 2nd pro fight

The most popular boxers are almost never Americans on this site. Which makes sense given it’s a world wide site.

But champion4ever makes a good point, this site wants the Floyd’s , Roy’s and Tank’s to lose badly.
I can definitely see where you're coming from and you do raise a valid point.

Having said that, would you agree that most posters on this site would give more praise or less hate to a fighter with less or limited skills, but gives it their all to win in a brutal fashion that is attributed to the sport of boxing, as opposed to a fighter with all the talent in the world that does the bare minimum to win on points?

Before it was called the sweet science it was called prize fighting and in its early stages would go well beyond 12 rounds and the fight wasn't over until somebody was out. I personally enjoy watching ring generalship and a good defense, but am a bigger fan of Sugar Shane's approach than Shakur's.

I like Shakur and I think he has excellent skills, but I can understand why he gets hate on this site and with the exception of a handful of posters, I don't believe it is due to him being black . I do believe there are some on this site who have bigoted tendencies, but I think it's spread out to all ethnicities and nationalities.

See what I mean? You don’t remember. But when it’s others, no one forgets lol.

Well Loma was 25, had what 200+ amateur fights and the 6 quasi pro AIBA fights.

            I think he was ready.

Yeah Loma always gets a bit of a pass when he loses.

Lmfao. The Tank fans don’t criticize showboating, the Loma fans do, unless it’s Loma.

It’s akin to the point made earlier- playing chess as opposed to being called boring.

But again, as I stated, Shakur’s issues are self created and not because of his race

well he get some slack by his fans of course, u or tank or shakur fans dont give him any slack

its not so easy just going from ams to pros & fighting guys at belt level immediately, thats a fact as well

Why should he get any? This is the part I don’t get and what Shakur and other posters are speaking about.

True but He didn’t just go from ams to pros. He had 6 quasi pro fights in between.

He was also a huge favorite against Salido.

Salido fought him the way posters said guys should fight Roy, Floyd and other elite boxers- dirty, nasty make it a brawl- something he wasn’t ready for.

i dont get what u are saying

loma always wanted the belts and he went for them, shakur had a chance for all the belts v haney and he didnt go for it, shakur plays it very safe in the ring at times and does a lot of whining about almost everything, it will turn people off, he got offered a 3 mil a fight contract & some fans walk out of his fights ive seen, its the way things are, some like shakur a lot and appreciate his style and winning etc, its not like he has no fans at all, he does have fans but hes also an easy target at times with the way he goes on

Shakur is a young kid whom, like most kids, has a distorted view of himself. has nothing to do with race, so much as our Psychiatric development. It takes a while for a young person to truly understand from a deep abiding connection to experience, that they are not the center of the Universe and, that they are mortal and can be shot, etc. I say this because Shakur and the other young guys who are boxing get a lot more attention, hence the problems stated are worse!

The medicine Shakur needs is when he fights a gifted puncher, like Davis, and gets the Haney treatment. When he realizes that he better develop some skills to hit hard enough not to rely only on defensive actions. When he looks at film of Whitaker and mayweather and realizes that both guys could punch and make an impact.

Most people who understand boxing understand that technically speaking? Shakur has fought nobody really... Nobody who could test him. Even Tank has a better resume.

So either people are wrong and poor Shakur is a boxing prodigy... able to keep anyone away even though his style is boring... Or a fight against a real puncher will show him he better get some chops. I know which possibility here I think is true lol!
Absolutely! If Shakur gets in the ring with a KO artist like Tank, it'll be sink or swim. Davis knows Stevenson can't punch and so he'll walk him down, tire him out, then go for the finish. Shakur had better come up with something that keeps punchers like Davis honest or keep fighting boring fights with b and c level opponents.
