ggg is retired, i barely even see him mentioned, loma has his fans and his detractors, hes less high profile now then he was
Loma just had a ton of people defending his avoiding Shakur and Tank and people claiming he was robbed in the Haney fight. This after not saying anything about the Ortiz fight.
He is still extremely popular on this site.

Shakur gets killed all the time. He is extremely unpopular on this site.

Shakur is better than most, by far. Once again we have an opinion that suggests he doesn't punch hard enough to be entertaining or be taken seriously as a threat.
It's also been suggested that he doesn't have a solid resume. Shakur Stevenson hits hard enough; and his power is increasing as he grows into a man. He has also fought solid opposition and he's won decisively. Two opponents who come to mind are James Herring and Oscar Valdez. Shakur took Herring's belt by TKO, and knocked down and beat an undefeated Valdez (who was 30 and 0 at the time), by unanimous decision.
Shakur is dangerous and respected enough in the boxing community in that quite a few boxers avoid him - Loma is one. Folks are calling for Shakur to face Zepeda. I think Shakur outclasses him - so Golden Boy probably won't make that fight.
I dunno is anyone realize this but: Shakur Stevenson's opponents have a collective average of less than 2 losses in their careers. That's impressive. If this is boring, I'm lost as a boxing fan that loves this sweet science. He beats his opponents and they're legitimately decent boxers. The only boxer who I believe can be a nightmare is Tank, and I still give Shakur a chance. Shakur is talented and a sharp boxer.
BUT I call it the Vanilla Ice bandwagon syndrome. We have a lot of followers who allow others to formulate their opinions. 7 million people bought the Vanilla Ice album because they were told he could rap. A lot of people were told that Shakur is boring and they believe it. They'll come a day where a lot of people will say he's exciting, because they are going to be told this, and they're going to believe it....But.....he's not going to change much. He'll be the same boxer......but....It's going to be the Vanilla Ice Syndrome at work
Herring and Valdez are his scalps... And we can agree to disagree that this competition establishes him. Things like titles and losses tend to be relative, while fighting Haney, Tank, teo, or Loma, is absolute. I am not blaming Shakur here for not making those fights... But things are what they are.
My point is not to denigrate Shakur simply to state that assuming we can tether the likes of Arum and get some fights made... We will ultimately see how Shakur does against an elite boxer puncher, or a fellow young lion. You are right that he has a few scalps but his resume lacks even compared to Tank... much less Haney. Not saying it is his fault either...

He can box circles around a lot of these guys without knocking them out, but the appearance of laying back and even jumping out of the way constantly, does him a disservice and just plain makes him look bad.

He's grabbing at the low lying fruit by playing the race card. When all else fails and your career isn't progressing as expected, blame racism.

The non American power puncher has always been a favorite of the site overall.
Show the positive threads and posts about Shakur. Very few.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 08-16-2024, 11:30 AM.

Let’s just cut to the chase. Everyone is waiting around just wishing for the black guy to lose. It doesn’t matter what kind of style he has. If he’s good and he’s winning these tribalists are just waiting for him to fail.
