People forget how Alvarez first insisted that he was focused on rematching Bivol and getting his revenge. He then made Dmitry an offer that he knew was unacceptable and made no further mention of him. As if "The face of boxing" somehow is unable to make a fight that he truly wants to make. Then after the fans began to demand he fight Benavidez, his mandatory challenger of two years, he first said David's done nothing to deserve the fight and then said he wouldn't fight another Mexican. After that, came Reynoso's claim that his fighter doesn't need to fight Benavidez in order to cement his legacy, when PBC tried to set a deal with Cinnamon to fight him. And now, he's fighting fellow Mexican Mungia! Throw in the catch-weight fights, aging-out Golovkin and Kovalev, Clenbuterol bust and cherry-picks, and it's easy to see that this guy's "legacy" has more twists, turns and controversy than a bad soap opera.
