They do that because the other guy can defend their takedowns and is on a similar level to them in stand up so theres not much incentive to expend energy grappling. If you put someone who is way more dangerous standing but with virtually no takedown defence against them they arent gonna **** around like that. Shyt even NGANNOU turned into a wrestler when he faced a guy who had a good chance at outstriking him.

Eh, its not as simple as that. The DDP shot was a literal jab lol. You surely dont believe that was more powerful than Costas kick? Whittaker walked into that DDP shot and was off balance. He did eat that kick pretty well though admittedly.

Joshua is 10 times easier to hit than Fury and has no chin. This will be very interesting.

What logic says that? AJ punches hard enough, that is no doubt. So does Francis. AJ's head isn't very tough. He is the better boxer, but he has no size or strength advantage, so he will have to box even better and faster than usual, which I don't see him doing. Probably Francis will lose the fight, but he doesn't need more than a few punches to finish AJ, that is the big intrigue.

The tune has sure changed around here since everyone was knocking Tyson Fury for taking such a "pointless fight" against such a "No Hope" opponent.

I too remember the days of mighty Helenius the iron chinned freak athlete who was 270+lbs of muscle.

The styles of the boxer and the MMA fighter matter a lot as your say

Beterbiev was an elite level Olympic style wrestler before he decided to devote himself fully to boxing, so he is not the best boxer to pick for a comparison like this.

Fury had been decked 7 times in his career. Yes, he always gets up, but so does AJ.

AJ got up from a Wlad Klitscko right hand that would have finished most HWs and went on to stop Wlad. He got up 4 times against Andy Ruiz and was stopped on his feet due to sheer exhaustion, not lack of punch resistance. AJ is a lot more durable than most people give him credit for.
