Stipe is 41, has been out of action longer than Floyd had at the time of the Conor fight and is about 30lbs lighter than Fury in addition to being at a big height/reach disadvantage.

You think Fury would beat him in an MMA fight?

It is true, but people exaggerate the knockdown. But it is still a knockdown and it's Fury's fault for being so out of shape in that fight.

What logic says that? AJ punches hard enough, that is no doubt. So does Francis. AJ's head isn't very tough. He is the better boxer, but he has no size or strength advantage, so he will have to box even better and faster than usual, which I don't see him doing. Probably Francis will lose the fight, but he doesn't need more than a few punches to finish AJ, that is the big intrigue.

Nah not HWs lol, the skill guys 135 to 160, say prime GGG 160 against a 40 yr old retired 135 MMA guy that's 25lbs difference. HWs 25lbs is nothing Francis probably has that on AJ.

Stipe would tie Fury up like a pretzel lol.

          Okay, how about GSP

Most of those 135lb MMA guys are more like 160 come fight time though lol. I'm not sure what GGGs walking weight was but I doubt he cut like they do.

Anyway, it'd depend on the MMA fighter. How long they'd been retired, whether they went out on top or had already been declining badly, whether they were predominantly a grappler or a striker etc.

A boxer will always have a punchers chance even when its prime vs prime and guys of the same size, but actually being able to hang and neutralise the other guys skillset instead of landing a Hail Mary early is a different thing. Not saying there arent plenty of boxers who could learn to actually hang and develop into good MMA fighters as well, but pure boxing by itself obviously isnt enough in that environment. Its highly effective when used in conjuction with other things though.

Mcgregor now vs Bertebiev in the cage. Obviously mcgregor would be a big favourite but that'd be more risky for the MMA guy than was, say Toney vs Coture.

The styles of the boxer and the MMA fighter matter a lot as your say

Beterbiev would kill Conor tbh. Conor was a weight bully striker in his prime, is an even bigger coked up train wreck than Fury and has aged by like 20 years in the last 5.

Guys like Randy or Hendo most likely could have beaten bigger younger boxers in MMA when they were pushing 50 though.

GSP would be interesting he was great, but its got to be 25lbs difference on the night as it was with Floyd that the core of the exercise.

As long as they're a grappling based fighter who stayed in good shape and has been retired 5 years or less plenty could do it imo. It'd take more than 25lbs to neutralise that deficit. Obviously we are talking a boxer with zero grappling experience here though, if you could give the boxer a year at a good gym training tons of defensive grappling they'd have a good shot in many cases. Some would probably be good enough to do okay within the active talent pool even.

Yeah maybe, but I got a feeling an elite prime boxer that punches as hard as GGG with a 25lb advantage , some defensive tuition for the cage and just get in punching range and land and its all over, Ive seen so many pretty basic MMA guys just drill opponents in standup and cant help but think the power difference between them with the boxer so much bigger would make a lot of difference, one of those fantasy deals we will never know.

Did you see that Acosta kick that landed on Whitaker, he ate it , and yet Dricus du Plessis dropped him with a straight right, I thought of you when he swallowed that kick with a little stagger.
