Casual Fans overlooking Fury's mastery of his Era?

If Tyson wasnt so big he probably doesn't win a title, this is the era of the giants and should be in a new SHW division, fans call TC crazy and cant win going up 20lbs, Inoue cant go up to Davis yet guys give tyson up to 60lbs or more, at a what point doesn't weight matter or are weight bullies only held to that if you don't like them if and they are bigger. As far as skills speed and straight up fighting this era is the worst HW era I ve seen in 50yrs, the people pumping up these giants are fans from the same era because that's all they know, I find it very hard to believe an old time boxing fan could be excited with today's HWs, in my eyes the rest of boxing have improved a lot, while the HWs have gone backwards, they are like the Sumo of boxing the bigger you are the more chance you have.

I barely watch the HWs today because there is very few skills and fighting that I like to see from real boxers like the best of the lower divisions.

I get that impression too. Many of the most outspoken Fury fans seem to be young men in their 20s. It's why they're cool with all the social media stuff too. It's unfathomable to them that we just want to see guys get in the ring regularly and fight the best - rather than just talk about it.

It's why I posted Lewis - Holyfield 2 in the forum recently. A reminder of when the two best heavyweights were athletes prepared to get in the ring twice in a calendar year to prove it.

Michael Spinks was introduced as 'recognised by many to be the true heavyweight champion' (or words to that effect) before the Tyson fight.

Foreman was something along the lines of 'defending the status he has never lost in the ring'. I don't think they referred to 'Lineal'.

The actual best fighters are 130 to 175, this is the point where speed power and endurance is at its best and the numbers of competitors is highest, so being the best of 30 jumbos doesn't compare with being the best of a pool of 1000s of athletes.

Fury could've done a lot better, tending the flock and collecting hardware. That long medical sabbatical didn't help in the early phase of his reign, but it certainly may have saved his life, so the good folks will cut him slack there. Even now, however, he's big on issuing challenges and making other provocative statements designed to rile people up, and the fans have grown pretty tired of the show, and just want him to fight, and preferably, fight the best!

But looking back carefully at the Tyson Fury era of Heavyweight history, we can see that he hasn't done as badly as all that, with 10 fights against the 50 best of the era (based on a pretty good list of the 50 best).

Fury has beaten a very old Wlad, and an overrated Wilder. He was likely on PED's for the Hammer fight , and was suspended for over a year because of it. Was he on PED's for Wlad too that was right after the Hammer fight? He lost a fight with fair judging on points to McDermott. This man fouls his way around the ring as he has been docked points FIVE times in five separate fights. He has beaten very few ring magazine ranked opponents in their prime.

I am tired of him not fighting top competition, backing out of fights, and acting like a goof.

Foreman had the WBU and IBA belts bestowed upon him so it's interesting the announcers chose to ignore those. It was obviously a bid by minor sanctioning bodies to gain credibility which didn't work.

Boxing's institutions for a long time were prepared to allow the Big Three the opportunity to behave as true custodians of the sport. As late as 2001 (and possibly beyond) it was within the Ring's championship policy that unifying the three belts would be sufficient to be recognised as Ring champion. They ignored the WBO which helped keep them a minor sanctioning body (which I was in favour of).

HBO were still naming the sanctioning bodies until well into the 2000s before an editorial decision was made to only refer to them obliquely. The sanctioning bodies have repeatedly squandered opportunities to behave appropriately and I hope this leads to their eventual downfall.
