  • Lewis - Holyfield 2

13th November 1999. I happened to watch this again last night. Good quality video.

Watching this, it's quite incredible that many Americans badged Lewis as a "boring" fighter. Plenty of high quality trading here.

The idea some fat, inactive, unreliable slob has anything on these two quality athletes is laughable.

Anyway, enjoy this quality boxing match between two guys who liked to fight. They got it done twice in a calendar year.

The irony is I thought Lewis won the first and Evander won the second

Holyfield didn't throw enough punches in either fight.

The first fight it seemed like Lennox was more than he anticipated, but the second fight in my opinion Evander imposed his will and did more damage

People see differently in fights but that’s what I saw

Bumped for the nostalgia of seeing two quality heavyweight athletes contest all the belts for the second time in a calendar year.

This is what happens when you have two dedicated athletes wanting to prove they're the best.

            Perception.of era's 'And the standards'.

Evander Holyfield vs Mike Tyson I 'Was not really rated super highly as a overall fight. But the pace and intensity, and even skill level displayed in that fight by both fighters was miles better than 95% of the top level Heavyweight fights in today's era'.

It was a solid fight in my opinion, and one were Mike Tyson fought hard until there was no more.

Mike Tyson vs Evander Holyfield II 'Long as that fight lasted, I have always been adamant that both Holyfield and Tyson were two of the most supremely conditioned Heavyweights of that era on that night. The action in the opening rounds, was extremely intense 'The pace, and operational speed of both fighters, Made the fight appear as if two Super Middle Weight or Light Heavyweight fighters were competing'.

You could definitely see that Mike Tyson was really on his game, and so was Holyfield 'Unfortunately the fight was called off, due to of course the chaos'.

Evander Holyfield vs Lennox Lewis II 'That fight was the last time Holyfield was in top level all around condition, and was able to compete at elite level'.

Holyfield just like he did with Bowe II, fought a better fight 'And was able to compete with Lewis's jab, by jabbing to the chest'.

It was not really one of Lewis's best performances, tactically abit messy 'But he was under pressure, to force the fight more'.

Note: Lennox Lewis vs Evander Holyfield I 'Was maybe the worse beat down, Holyfield had ever endured'.

That is why, whether he won or lost the rematch 'Just to be able to make it a competitive fight, shows the level of a fighter Evander Holyfield was'.

The perception of Heavyweight era's, and the standards that the fighters themselves set 'Is why when looking back? People realize. Wow that fighter or fight was way better than what people believed at the time'.

The fighters among themselves, are the people who set the standards 'And going back to past era's, the Heavyweight fighters were held to a higher standard. They also held and set themselves higher standards, of performances and overall conditioning in my opinion' etc.

I mean, coming off Tyson and Holy he is slow paced, and, Manny didn't smack him for no reason.

Bumped. Some of us are old enough to remember when the two best heavyweights were two dedicated athletes who turned up twice in a calendar year, no drama, to prove it. Good times.

                  Bumped for MONGOOSE66

Notice what Lennox Lewis did do: Organise two fights in a calendar year with his closest rival and showed up for them.

Notice what Lennox Lewis didn't do: Say he's retired, participate in a reality TV show, fight an MMA fighter, postpone the fight twice.

Surely people can see why boxing fans are fed up with Fury.
