Slow, stiff, couldn't crack an egg, always looks out of shape and exhausted. I don't think this guy can take it to the body at all, everytime he gets hit to the body he starts turning away and his body language is awful. The highlights of his fights should just be 2 mins straight of rabbit punches.

I don't see him even being competitive with the top HWs.

I'm not remotely convinced someone like Martin Bakole wouldn't just steamroll him

His controversial "win" against Zhang, where he looked cartoonish with birds circling around his head a few times, weighs heavily on him. He needed a solid performance yesterday to erase that, but he didn't look good. He salvaged it a bit with the 12th round KO, but overall he doesn't look like the next big thing at HW.

I just saw the fight. Without going overboard, McKean is a big man with some skills, power and a solid chin. And he is a bit quicker than I thought. And he had some heart. If he did not clinch as often as he did, Hrgrovic knocks him out sooner. The ref should have at warned him about losing a point. Hrgovic looked fine after a long nearly 1 year layoff skill wise. The straight shots, the body work and he hook landed for him. Sometime he just missed with a fight changing blow until 9th round and obvisouly the 12th round. I scored the fight before the 12th round 8-2-1 for Hrgorvic. I think he would have looked sharper if he was more active.

Now to the other fighters no more ducking him and fighting older guys who are not that good for title shots.

So you were commenting before and praising Hrgovic without actually having watched the fight?

This is why I said the mandatory position is a curse. Obviously it wouldn't make sense for Hrgovic to turn down the Usyk fight, but that isn't the fight the HW division needs. Hrgovic still needs development, and Fury/Usyk need to face off.

Honest, I believe I was among the very first ones here to describe him for his actual worth, and still remember certain acrid replies

He's just above the level of, say, Guido Vianello.

I've literally been saying for years that Hrgovic, Zhang, DuBois, and Joyce were all overhyped bums.

Jared Anderson is the next overhyped bum.

Torrez might be a real prospect though.

Never really been impressed with Hrgovic. I started hearing about him early in his pro career. People told me about how impressive he was in the World Series of Boxing and as an amateur. The Croatian got more buzz when he he beat a faded Amir Mansour, he has feasted on faded, shopworn opponents and undefeated club level fighters.

He's always looked stiff, robotic and has been easy to hit. The vaunted power has faded as the level of opponent went up. As others have mentioned, his reaction to getting hit clean is a red flag. In the Zhang fight he just turned his back and walked away when buzzed. I'm sure the inactivity and the loss of his father affected him but let's not pretend that he was a world beater before those events.

You under rater Hrgoivc's will for battle. He will walk right through Usyk's punches , and he had the size, reach, punch output., accuracy and speed to cause him problems. And the power to hurt him when he lands.

He is in his prime now. Usyk will be 37 soon, but he is without a doubt a top 3 heavyweight today.

Oh by the way it is an open secret that Usky does not take a good body punch, which Hrgovic has. Remember that. I'm not saying Usyk has no chance. I am saying it highly likely he will box circlers around him. Only an idiot believes that.

I will do a breakdown of the fight once it's an absolute go. In the man time, keep up the player hating.
He got a decision against Zhang that many felt was a gift decision.

Hrgovic has slow feet, a ponderous jab and little variation with his attack. That’s easy work for Usyk. He could beat a guy like that at 47.
