Prime Cunningham or Ngannou? Boxing?
Honestly I'd rather face Ngannou. I'm sure he'd beat me but neither of us are pro boxers so I'd stand a better chance of not being hurt.Comment

Just because someone is officially a "pro boxer" by trade doesnt mean they're actually any good or that there arent MMA guys or kickboxers out there who would beat them even in a boxing match. it just means they happened to choose boxing to be a bum/journeyman at. The majority of the talent pool at HW especially is random Albanian cab drivers there to pad other peoples records.Comment

Cunningham was a career boxer. Golden Gloves and twice World Champion.

Ngannou is a guy who went to a boxing gym to learn how to box and was told he'd be better off trying another sport.
Given the choice, I'll absolutely go in the ring with Ngannou over Cunningham.
If it was an MMA fight I'd go in with Cunningham.Comment

Not as simple as that and it doesnt really say anything about power. This is what actually happened...
"did various odd jobs to make ends meet, until age 26 when he decided to head to Paris, France, to pursue professional boxing.[22] However upon reaching Europe, he was jailed for two months in Spain for illegally crossing the border.[23] After Ngannou reached Paris, he had no money, no friends, and no place to live.[17] After living homeless on the streets of Paris, he met Francis Carmont who introduced him to Fernand Lopez and the MMA factory.[24] Being a fan of Mike Tyson, Ngannou was originally interested in learning how to box but Lopez saw his potential in MMA and convinced him to try MMA instead.[22] Lopez gave Ngannou some MMA gear and allowed him to train and sleep at the gym for no cost thus starting Ngannou's MMA career"
Nothing to do with him not being good enough to box or some dumb **** like that.Comment

If he'd had any potential as a heavyweight boxer then he'd have been a heavyweight boxer.

It's a small pool in which the top fighters make insane money. If he had potential then he wouldn't have gone down a lesser paid route (MMA) instead of the one he actually wanted to pursue (Boxing).
Regardless... he wanted to learn how to box and he didn't. That was in his twenties. He's now in his late 30s.
He's not a boxer. He's not even a guy who boxed as a junior or an amateur. He didn't even ever really train as a boxer.
I'm not saying I'd fancy my chances against him. But I'd certainly do better than I would against prime Cunningham who was a top level, career boxer.
As for Fury v Ngannou, it's the greatest mismatch that a reigning champion has taken in the history of the sport.Comment

Again you're oversimplifying. Boxers are brought along very slowly and most languish in obscurity forever, never seeing the big money, and he was 26 years old in a boxing backwater, whereas the UFC is an international touring promotion that constantly scouts talents from different markets and is able to make stars very quickly. As far as French HWs go look at Yoka, Takam and Duhaupas compared to Ngannou and Gane for a clear illustration of this. Seems like he made the right choice no?
