I don't think he is avoiding, fight will happen when they agree on 60/40 which IMHO is fair ......

As a long time scribe and historian deep into this crap for many years , I can't think of a single Heavyweight champion who didn't generate the EXACT same level of criticism that Tyson Fury does. That includes Liston, Ali, Frazer, Foreman, Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, W. Klitschko; the best of the best.
I can only attempt to explain the phenomenon by pointing to the critics, who take a subliminal offense by watching some other somebody doing heroics and earning great wealth while they themselves struggle with simple challenges like making ends meet. So they lash out with their bitching.
Anyway, all the HOF level champions of the only combat sport that history cares anything about I've named here have gotten the same complaints.
No question that Fury needs to fight at least twice this year, and if I had my way he'd take out Usyk before new years eve, but the snail's pace of making these fights happen, frustrating as it is, doesn't undo Fury’s remarkable accomplishments.

What exactly are his remarkable accomplishments, pray tell? He beat Klitschko once to become unified champ, then got stripped for doping and vacated the other belts rather than rematch, and retired. Then he beat Deontay Wilder a couple times and defended against then twice-beaten Whyte, and cherry picked Chisora for an optional title defense. And he had to be forced into one of those fights by a court. As a long time scribe and historian deep into this crap for many years , I can't think of a single Heavyweight champion who didn't generate the EXACT same level of criticism that Tyson Fury does. How on earth do you compare that to Ali, Liston, Frazier, etc? He's only fought 2 world champions, and has three defenses, none for the unified championship, and has doping on his record.
Klitschko had 18 title defenses, and fought 9 world champions, and he's considered one of the weaker ones of your list.
Since you're the historian, maybe you can explain how Fury is some ATG with his resume? I legitimately don't get it. Count me as one that doesn't understand the hype aside from the fact that he's huge and skilled, especially for someone so big.Comment

Nah, you're always defending Fury and trying to mention him with greats. He's no great. As a long time scribe and historian deep into this crap for many years , I can't think of a single Heavyweight champion who didn't generate the EXACT same level of criticism that Tyson Fury does. Fury is to a certain extent apprehensive of both Usyk & Joshua.
People need to stop going along with this universal narrative, of? 'Oh I don't think Fury is afraid to fight any fighter'.
I don't think fighters are afraid in the classical sense, because they train to fight.
But don't kid yourselves, boxing is a extremely serious and violent sport 'These men understand, what violence is about'.
From my observation when Tyson Fury, is bothered by a fighter or his nearest competition 'Fury will not directly confront those fighters'.
Fury will seek to ether disrupt, and create a fight environment which he prefers 'Fury attempts to do this by making fight offers at short notice, just in general making opportune moves and utilizing his sociopolitical game to attack his nearest competition'.
Once you then work off this information, and observe Fury 'It will become apparent to you, which fighters bother Tyson Fury'.
Fury is bothered by Usyk, he is still bothered by Joshua and even Wilder etc.

I get it, I honestly do.

Then he beat Deontay Wilder a couple times and defended against then twice-beaten Whyte, and cherry picked Chisora for an optional title defense. furthermore, I don't beleive that your complaints about Fury Are without merit, at all.
So, "frequently defending the title against the best the world can throw at you". That's the best thing a champion can do to solidify their Greatness.
Most of those we anoint as being "Great" did precisely that.
Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Ali, Frazer, Holmes, Lewis and W. Klitschko used that method for achieving their greatness. Clean house!
But....There are other ways too.
Tunney, Schmelling, Liston, Foreman, even Holyfield and Tyson to a lesser extent, are some who, like Fury; became great through other means, and none made that long string of title defenses that we hope for with a new champion.
instead, they each won a select number of hightly signfight fights while dominating the division. Some, like Liston, house cleaned the best in a stacked era before even winning the title. Others, like Fury, pushed the bar up on how large a fighter can be while maintaining high ability.
So Fury has gone to alternate means to carve out his legacy.
Still, I'm a show me guy and not an idolatrer...and if Tyson Fury fails to add some combo of Usyk, Ruiz and Joshua to his shopping cart before he says goodbye, then I'll fault him for that just as you do already.
But I'll wait in hopes that he'll wrap up his business and honor his opportunity.Last edited by Willow The Wisp; 06-30-2023, 01:43 PM.Comment

Is Water wet. Its obvious he is avoiding Uysk. He didn’t even want to fight Wilder again until Wilder took him to court. Uysk fights southpaw which is difficult for Fury and Uysk is the most skilled heavyweight in the division.I was one of the rare few that didn’t believe in the whole ‘fury is ducking Usyk’ narrative. How could a guy who went to fight the most dangerous puncher in boxing in his own backyard whilst not even 100% fit, be afraid.
But finding out today that Fury most likely won’t be taking the Saudi offer in December to fight Usyk, I now believe he’s avoiding him. He just doesn’t want to fight him for some reason. All I can think of is maybe fury is scared of usyks movement and the way he moves in the ring and changes angles and his boxing IQ.Comment
