Obviously he's interested in the trinket. He's behaving like Gervonta Davis, going for a Mario Barrios instead of a Josh Taylor. His fans give him credit for that, but very few others did or do.

I'm all in favor of Canelo doing legacy fights, but historically, cleaning out the division and demonstrating dominance means more than a random cherry picked belt that's as quickly vacated. I get it. It's about as low risk and high reward a fight as he's got left, and I'll be frank, he's either lost a step or he and Reynoso need to step up their game. I still can't believe neither of them made any adjustments in the Bivol fight.

If he wants to demonstrate greatness, IMO the way to do that is to take out Beterbiev. If he really wants cruiserweight, Opetaia is the man in the division.

I think now is the time to take the big guys, before Beterbiev gets any older, and before Canelo gets too old to take challenges. I do think he should clean out his division, and put the Benavidez talk to sleep. I don't care about Charlo and Andrade at all. They have no resumes to speak of, but the winner of Benavidez v Morrell will rightly be looked at as the champion to be, and he's gonna need to take care of that business at the very least next year, if he's not going to do it this year.

You think he’s “lost a step”?
Ya think?? Where the fook you been the last 2 years???
He peaked 2 years agoish. He ISNT looking to fight someone he’ll loose too. He’s looking for “legacy”. A belt is a belt regardless what weight class.

Not to mention fighting Benavidez will be the first time in Canelo's career giving the public the fight they/we want to see when we want to see it.
Oh, really? That’s weird. I guess 3 Golovkin fights were meaningless then.

Just say you love belts and be done with it. Legacies are made by more than belts. How many times do people need to point out that legacy is historically about the best fighting the best, belts or no. He's following the same "legacy" path as Gervonta Davis. He has earned the right to make that choice though. He's gonna have detractors and defenders no matter what choice he makes. But if he wants true legacy, not "this guy was cherry picking through the bulk of his career", there's better choices IMO.

Bear in mind, I'm mostly just talking about the fights I want to see. He is the king and he's gonna do what he wants, never mind what some random guy says on a random forum.

It's funny though that people are so willing to hate on him for the one PED test, but then go wild defending Tyson Fury and Jon Jones who both have multiple violations that can't even be explained by tacos. And those same people don't seem to mind Benavidez losing his belt for a doping violation, or being so unprofessional that he lost his belt on the scales.

You might be having memory loss but I'll gladly remind you of how things went. Canelo vacated a belt to prolong the first GGG fight and instead opted to fight Liam Smith and then Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Second fight he got caught with Clenbuterol in his system again prolonging the 2nd fight. 3rd fight nobody asked for.

And was GGG the only example you could find? Thanks for proving my point.......

Every fighter does tune ups. Look at the Charlos, Andrade and Tank. Been doing tune ups their whole career.
Im not sure what the 40 year old is all about.
It must be nice to live in your 12 year old world.
Cool so Canelo fights someone for other reasons than just legacy so stop using that as the reason for fighting Jack and not Benavidez.

He had a tune up cause it was after his surgery moron but most fighters always take a tune up before a tuff fight.
Am I really telling you something you never knew??

Name a boxer in the HOF that has never won a belt? And as far as testing positive. You must be a ****** too to not know MOST TOP10 fighters arent doing something illegal. Grow up.

Cool and David is a mandatory and number 1 ranked opponent in the division for 3 years. You can't just use legacy and tune up when it suits. David has plenty of claim. Now it looks like he will fight Charlo so im DYING to see the comical excuses you will have to justify that fight before Benavidez. Get cracking fangirl.
