Usyk didn't have the belts. Joshua did. Usyk signed a 2 fight contract with a less than favorable split for both fights. Now he has the belts. I agree that Fury is more popular, but Usyk has something that Fury can't get from any other fighter, Undisputed. It has value. It's also not Usyk's fault that Fury can't enter the US, where the fight could potentially make more money. 60/40 split in Fury's favor seems fair. I hope the fight gets made.

This is not Fury v Whyte or Fury v Chisora XII. This fight will generate substantially more revenue than either of those fights...because it is a HW unification for the rarest of things in boxing, an undisputed heavyweight champion. Fury can make millions fighting anyone, but he cannot make the money this fight will generate fighting anyone else. Usyk is not some pauper contender looking for a handout. He is as legitimate a champion as Fury. He knows his value in this fight, and he will get it. Usyk's team is savvy, and they've thrown down the gauntlet with their winner takes 60% offer. Let's sit back now and watch Fury ridiculousness. Will he threaten to go to the UFC, the WWE, Hollywood, retirement home? Which?
Usyk accepted 20-80 split for AJ. Now he demands 50-50 for Fury. This is a duck plain and simple. Usyk is well aware that he is not generating 50% of the revenue for the matchup, but he claims since he has belts he needs a portion of the revenue that Fury will generate. Fury has been the champion longer AND generates the revenue.Last edited by TheOneAboveAll; 03-08-2023, 04:33 PM.Comment

First I’m going to correct that false narrative that “the fight can more money in the US”.
One, The most money is clearly coming from Saudi Arabia - precisely why the big names are running to.
Two, where in the US can Fury or any other boxer can sell 90,000 tickets??
Lastly, there are ways to dodge taxes fighting in the UK or Saudi Arabia NOT in the US.
Back to your rebuttal, Maidana fought Floyd twice. And each time, he made less than $4 million while Floyd made $32 million guaranteed.
Two, had Crawford-Spence happened and Floyd elected to fight the winner, Floyd would have gotten 80/20 in his favor if not more. Why? Because neither guy will EVER EVER make $20 million pay.
Three, when Spence signed up to fight PAC, he was NEVER making $10 million. The bigger name gets to get the lions share.
Let’s give it a different perspective. When Jack Black signed up for Jumanji (including the sequel) he absolutely did not get the same pay as Dwayne Johnson.
Was that unfair? Nope! Dwayne Johnson is way bigger than Jack Black as is Fury over Usyk.
Pretty simple economic 101

I think comparing this situation to Floyd Mayweather is ridiculous, as is comparing it to a Rock movie. Nice try.———-

Fury is the top ranked HW and it isn't even close. You forgot to mention Whyte was a mando. Not his fault money is thrown at him. People want to see Tyson Fury, in the US and the UK. Your weak argument of he made 100mil so he should take less is one of the dumbest I've seen. He makes that kind of money because he's earned his place. Who is throwing 100mil at Usyk? I'll wait. You are basically arguing he should fight for free lol. Only a serious moron would try to make that case. Let Usyk go fight either one and see how much he makes. He'd make more money taking a 60/40 split vs Fury than both those guys combined. At the end of the day Usyk needs Fury much more than Fury needs him. He's held every belt in the division and is a certified 1st ballot HOFer.
Please. 50/50 is more than reasonable. Usyk holds multiple recognized world titles, while Fury holds one. Fury isn't looking too confident in himself here. Besides, didn't he get like $100 million USD for one of those bogus fights against Chisora or Whyte recently?
He doesn't need anymore money. He has enough for 10 lifetimes. He's simply using that as an excuse to keep taking soft touch fights. He knows this fight is a pick em, coin flip type fight, and at this stage of his career, he doesn't want that type of fight.
Don't believe me? The proof is in the pudding; His last two fights were against Chisora and Whyte. Both of whom posed no real threat.
Usyk is a problem. A big problem for Fury, and he knows it.Comment

What boxer is today? Canelo makes mad money but still not making Mayweather money. The point is Fury is the cash cow at HW. He calls the shots. He can retire today and end up in the HOF and live a life of luxury. Do you think any boxer can call for a 50/50 split when Mayweather was at the top of his game? Would you call him a coward for not giving another boxer a 50/50 split? Sorry to say son, your bias is showing.Comment
