COVID didn't help, couple of slow years. This year was disappointing. Not sure how much will change next year if the same fighters and promoters keep circling around one another.

Do you think any of these posters ever go to any USA Boxing events?

I doubt 2023 would be any better. Most of the fighters are on a long layoff and most likely want tuneup fights.

Probably not. At least one doesn’t think they are “real” fights. Many others don’t think a fighter’s amateur pedigree matters.

Boxing reminds of the WWE of the early 90's. Usually saw some name star wrestling a local jobber every week for months building some sort of story line rivalry with another name star until Westlemania or Summerslam PPV.

Boxing promotors are just manufacturing stars fighting low level competition with showcase fights until another manufactured star can be found to max out the money with a ppv.

Unfortunately now, it seems like they are putting those showcase fights on ppv. Which is just pissing off true fans, and not gaining any new ones.

Boxing isn't dead, but it isn't the premier combat sport anymore. Too many promoters and too much greed.

To make matters worse, not only is it a talent issue but none of these prima donnas want to fight

Ive been watching a ton of ufc lately and its way better. The best fight the best. End of story. No politics.

They also fight once a year now...fight 1 tomato can a year.

Ive also spenr over 20k in tickets over the last 15 years so anyone not calling me a fan can kick rocks.

The mentality of the sport has changed into ducking and dodging, in and out of the ring. At least in the UFC you know you are going to have a fight.

Big difference between the 2 sports ofcourse is that UFC is actually 'safer' and by FAR less dangerous than boxing. Sure you can get knocked out by a shot you don't see coming in the UFC, or knocked down and tapped out. However boxing is simpler in terms of only using 2 hands, so most shots you will see coming which will result in repeated hard impact on the brain, which is far worse than a 'flash knock down and tap out'.

It’s in a very serious decline though. It was always going to happen with Manny and Floyd’s retirement. Fury and Canelo both have stagnant careers atm.

Fighters from English speaking countries are all either on the down slope or not doing much. Eastern European fighters in a massive upswing atm. Beiterbev, Bivol, Usyk all dominant. Western fighters doing **** all relly

The problem with boxing is that these guys want to pad their undefeated records. They are too reluctant in taking on risks outside of the boxing ring in order to give us boxing fans the fights that we want to see.

Yeah them blowing up when they did and their fight being milked for so long really carried boxings mainstream profile for a good 7-8 years. It was also a lucky coincidence that they blew up around the same time that the UFC did, it kind of held the UFC at bay for a while.

Canelo, AJ and Fury are a significant step down from Floyd and Pac, especially if we are talking about the US market and PPV.
