Real talk - going up in a dif weight class and fighting a champion in that weight class is almost impossible to achieve at the highest levels. Most boxers don’t even try it, but I feel Canelo got to overconfident. It took him years to fight Golovkin at 160 since he took his time making that weight class, he took 168 too easy and jumped to the 175 right away. Your body needs time to get used to that weight.

Too overconfident = a recipe for a loss.

Look at Roy Jones Jr. or recently Mikey Garcia.

He refused to fight his mandatories in Charlo and Andrade and accepted that bytch azz franchise belt. He never acknowledged the 168 WBC belt until Benavidez lost it. He lost to 3G and Lara. He's currently on a European terror run. Dazn has fuqed up the MW divisions in America. If there was never a Dazn then we would have already gotten all the MW fights between Charlo- Canelo - 3G- Andrade - Lara - Plant - Benavidez - Mungia - Plant - Morrell - Dirrell!

Billie Joe Sanders was too lazy to make 160 hence the reason why he went up to 168. Billie Joe also ducked out of the Andrade fight by getting caught cheating. You are not making a point here. He wasn't required to take any of those fights no different than the fight he could have taken but avoided.

Canelo wants to create a narrative that says he was going up in weight chasing greatness and fell short. But that's all bs. Because in reality, he was running from Benavidez, and going up in weight only because he thought he saw something sweet in Bivol. Turns out, Bivol was bitter as a mofo and kicked his carrot top ass. He did the same thing when he hopped up to fight Kovalev. He only goes up and picks ppl he thinks he can easily beat he knew Kovalev was drunk off potato vodka when he fought him. The ego on this guy is unreal. All of his biggest name opponents were 35 and older. He left 160 with 2 very credible fights on the table. He managed to become unified in a weak division without actually facing the best in the division. His fights at 175 were against a completely shot 36 yr old alcoholic and bivol who he had no idea was as dangerous as he was since he hadn’t looked impressive in years. Even Bivol said that and even Canelo admitted beterbiev was the bigger threat in that weight class. Canelo has managed risk consistently ever since the Lara fight so his perception is bullshet and he knows it.

n 2019 Canelo fought Jacobs and Kovalev. Both are bigger names than Andrade. Was I a fan of the Kovalev fight? Nope. Kovalev was way past his prime. His last fight was 2 months ago from the Canelo fight against Yarde which he almost lost. Still he gave a tough fight to Canelo. It was close. But you need to understand what Canelo does. He's fighting the names. Andrade is offering Canelo's money to Canelo. That is the money Canelo brings. Andrade should've fought someone like Golovkin or Jacobs to build his own name.

I’m up for any fight that makes sense. Me and ‘Boo Boo’ had a discussion before, that we would only do it for the big bucks and we would only do it for unification. But if it’s a fight that makes sense for the near future, we can’t go against it. That’s like my brother, though. We have an understanding, but if an upset happens – which it always does in boxing, you can never dictate what happens – we’ll have to see for the near future.

But I have no plans of fighting him. Is it something that I wanna do? Absolutely not. It’s not like a Peter Quillin or a Sergiy Derevyanchenko, where we’re just associates. Like I’ve known ‘Boo Boo’ since I was 15, 16 years old. We came up the amateur ranks together. His father [Paul Andrade] is like an uncle to me. This is way more personal than anything. But we also love the sport of boxing, and we also wanna do it for the sport of boxing. So we have plans on facing each other, but hopefully in the future, not the near future.
