There are literally no downsides to fighting Whyte. Big UK fight, PPV, most money available right now. Solid top 10 contender to enhance his resume.

The only downside for Fury would be if he lost….but Whyte’s easy work isn’t he, so that shouldn’t be a worry.

If Fury drops the belt instead of fighting him, then it’s a duck. It’s that simple. Only excuse I’d accept is if an undisputed fight with Usyk turned up instead.

Fighting whyte, who's a top 10 and mandatory does a lot more for him than what you say. Its been ordered by the wbc. So he either needs to shi.t or get off the pot!

Fury is king of the fantasy matchup. Won hundreds of fights without actually fighting any of them. Nearly mid-30’s and fought two top 10 fighters yet is supposed to be an ATG? The guy needs more names, yet he and his fanboys keep claiming Whyte is irrelevant despite the fact it would be his 3rd best win? His 3rd best currently is possibly Chisora, who has never won a big fight and has losses into double figures.

If Whyte is irrelevant, what is the rest of his resume apart from Wilder and Wlad worth?

For a fan, perhaps no but for Fury there is.

Fury will only get 55% of the purse bid and give 45% to a guy who claimed on paper that he got $300,000 in his last fight. So, an 80-20 or 75-25 split makes more sense and if WBC forces the stated split, it may make less sense for Fury. A Fury-Ruiz fight is just a big, if not bigger and Fury can get a better purse.

Fury may ask to be elevated to a franchise champion and go fight Ruiz Jr. Whyte can fight Wilder or Joyce on a 50-50 split.

Watch otto walling beat whyte easily--fury doesn't need whyte at all and will probably not fight him

              Wallin whyte!! lets goooo
I said it could be argued Whyte has a better resume than Fury, Whyte has fought Joshua, Povetkin, Parker, Chisora, Rivas, Helenius, Wach.

Doesn't have the heights but probably more depth, as for your opinion on Wallin beating Whyte or Joshua losing to Ruiz, they are not that relevant to a resume discussion.

Regardless, Whyte is mandatory and the best fight available, so he fights him or is stripped and there goes any undisputed fight for years, and for what, so Fury doesn't have to lower himself to fighting what would be the 3rd best name on his resume? This makes sense to you?

Agreed. Fury sounds like he wants a couple legacy fights (Usyk or Joshua) and then call it a day. Whyte is probably difficult to get motivated for at this point in his career.

Whyte is on the record stating he has dropped Fury multiple times in sparring. Obvious that Fury is ducking him. Pathetic.

Using the £300,000 from Warren (so $400,000 USD) isn't exactly telling the whole story either, it was a rematch, coming off a loss with no crowds and doesn't appear to include PPV as his guarantee was £4M

Prior to that his purses were routinely £1M, up to £1.5M for Wach, £4M for Povetkin 1 (so over $5M USD).

As far as mandatory challengers go, he is a pretty well paid one, and I doubt it will be a 55/45 split, probably somewhere between that and 80/20.

I actually doubt Fury v Ruiz would generate more if they can fill a UK stadium, but even if it could, that just means Fury should knock over Whyte then fight Ruiz and get paid twice. Thats what I liked so much about Canelo's run this year, instead of dodging his mando he just fought more often.

It's CLEAR who the best HW in the world is in 2021/22. (Right Now).

Fury is bigger than the trinkets.
It's not like BOWE dumping the belts to not fight Lewis tho... We are talking about Dylan White.
He will wait for the AJ/Usyk winner ?

Whyte would rank high on Fury's opponent list.
