I got no problem with guys who are still developing and working their way up, but a lot of established fighters behave like bltches

if RJJ heard someone say that a fighter could beat him.. be that media, fans, whoever... Roy demanded that fight, he wanted blood

I blame Arum for not landing the Spence fight... but Spence is not without blame, he showed no real interest in that fight

demanding 70% is ridiculous, that was NEVER going to happen and HE KNEW IT

Spence demanding 70% for Crawford, is like Golovkin demanding 164 for Ward... THEY 100% KNEW that was a show-stopper

Porter is a dog, and a total class act... I miss him already

      ...
Not to change the subject, but that's probably the first time I've ever heard someone suggest that RJJr took on all-comers. His MW-SMW career is remembered as much for the guys he didn't fight than the guys he fought.

Crawford is the # P4P fighter in my opinion. But he has zero charisma, and as of yet, no marquee opponent. Part of the blame goes to Bob and part of the blame goes to PBC for refusing to match their champions against Bud.

It's easy to blast Bob, but a promoter cannot "make" someone into a draw. All he can do is expose that fighter to the public, and hope that some kind of connection takes place. Personally I have never been able to conclusively say why Bud hasnt developed into a better draw. The quiet demeanor doesn't help, but he is a killer in the ring. He SHOULD be a much better draw than he is. Unfortunately PBC doesnt release PPV numbers, so we cant really compare how poorly he compares to Spence, Thurman, etc. For whatever reason, Bud just never really connected with the casuals, which is whats necessary in order to become a "draw".

          hey Terry ^^

the problem is... the two breakout fights that Crawford needed, never happened

Arum failed to do his job, Crawford missed Pacquiao and Spence

I could give Arum a pass for losing the Pacquiao fight for Crawford... IF, Manny was winding down his career with lesser opponents... but Pac selected Spence, so Crawford certainly was in the picture

Arum should have done what he needed to do, in order to land the Pacquiao fight for Crawford

he should have been able to pull that off with his connection to Pacquiao, and HE KNEW how important that fight was for Crawford

Arum's excuse for not making Pacquiao/Crawford was... " I wouldn’t wanna see him (Pacquiao) take that kind of damage "... but, Arum knew that Pac was considering Spence... so that excuse doesn't wash with me... Spence is just as abrasive as Crawford, possibly more so over 12 rounds

all Crawford had left was Spence, but The Bobfather did not land him either... that fight definitely should have happened

I think Arum blew it... or should I say, ignored that threat to his investment

that was likely the biggest fight in boxing, fans have been screaming for Crawford/Spence ever since bud moved up to 147... Arum either blew it, or he kept his hands in his pockets

Personally I have never been able to conclusively say why Bud hasnt developed into a better draw.

that was gold, thanks for the insight... if you don't know, then it is unlikely that anyone else will be able to answer that question

wtf? ... dude is a phenom, I just don't get it

to your point Jake Paul... I think he bought most of his fans with him, from youtube / twitter / etc ???

I could be wrong about that... but most insiders/hardcores don't care for him, and even the casuals don't seem to give him too much thought

good to see you man, take care

Bob says part of the blame goes to Bud as well because Bob arranged interviews and publicity events for him that he didn't bother to do. Who knows how true.

I'm sure that is part of it. Today more than ever a fighter has to sell himself, become a brand or work some sort of angle to boost his exposure.

Bitter Bob is probably correct on this one. Crawford isn't a major draw among the casual fans.

Mayweather, Pacquiao, Canelo, Cotto, Klitschko, just off the top of my head... there may have been a couple more

the way Golovkin ran around killing GOOD fights, with opponents who were MUCH better than the scrubs he selected - was ridiculous

I don't think it is particularly Arum's fault or even Crawford's fault. When PBC has all of the top welterweights locked up and refuses to allow them to fight anyone outside PBC what can Arum do about it? Absolutely nothing. The problem is Crawford came along in an era of a PBC controlled welterweight division. The fighters named above came along before PBC got a stranglehold on several boxing divisions, but especially the welterweight division. People cry about the fall of boxing and I lay it at the feet of Al Haymon. He has babied his fighters and gave them millions to fight nobodies and that kind of attitude and approach spread like wild fire to fighters outside of PBC like Golovkin, Mikey Garcia and now all the top fighters at lightweight. PBC has created an era of fighters who want millions for doing the absolute minimum plus fighters who absolutely refuse to challenge themselves. Out of all the PBC fighters that Haymon has in his stable only Porter has challenged himself and fought everyone he could, but Porter is the exception that proves the rule. But such an approach has been a failure for Haymon's fighters and it is especially obvious in the public failures of the careers of Garcia and Golovkin.

he was a outstanding amateur, and his skills/ability were immediately obvious when he turned pro... insiders knew that he was special, and so did a lot of fans

Tim Bradley never got any big fights either dude, except for Pacquiao... he left a LOT of food on the table during his career

why the hell did Arum never mention Mayweather, for Bradley ?

in 2013, Bradley was the former undisputed champion at 140, and he was ranked #1 at welter by The Ring... just behind Mayweather

Arum should have made Bradley/Mayweather FIRST... that fight would have raised Bradley's profile for the Pacquiao trilogy

Mayweather was a MUCH bigger fight than Pacquiao, and that was a MUCH bigger payday/opportunity for Bradley... but Bob "in-house" Arum preferred Pacquiao/Bradley because... 1) the winner would be contracted to Top Rank... 2) HE WOULD NOT NEED TO OPEN THE BOOKS, and had been ripping off Pacquiao for years according to Visionquest... so keeping all that middle-money - as well as taking a percentage from Pacquiao and Bradley - meant that Top Rank would make a lot more more money than they could possibly earn from Bradley's percentage fighting Mayweather... and Arum would likely have to pay Bradley more when it came time to make Pacquiao/Bradley

Bradley missed... Thurman, Porter, Broner, Spence, Danny Garcia, Khan, Brook, Guerrero, Malignaggi, Maidana... none of those fights happened, Bradley left a LOT of food on the table at 147

Tim cleaned out 140, and looked like he had a phenomenal career in front of him... because it appeared that he would fight anyone / everyone... then, he signed with Top Rank... and by 2016, half the guys he did not fight were ranked above him

Arum is a selfish, lying, conman... which is why all of his fighters leave

I would just about bet my life, that Arum promised Crawford the Pacquiao fight... most likely on numerous occasions, which is why Crawford renewed his contract with Top Rank
