Bud doesn't draw like some, because PBC has all the top welterweights that the world wants to see Bud against. And they made it their official policy to keep as many of them away from Bud as they can, as part of their campaign and business model to f.. up Top Rank and keep Bud from f.....ing up their investments by whipping their guys asses. And as soon as they threw one of their top guys at Bud, we all saw what happened. And that's what PBC fully understood all along-that Bud is too good to give an opportunity to, because he's not their guy, so therefore, he's bad for business. They knew that ever since he kicked Gamboa and Diaz's ass. On Bob Arum's end, he can't really promote Bud either, because all he can feed him are guys no one wants to pay to see. So it's not Bud's fault at all. He always beats the guy across the ring from him. That's all he can do, besides crash a press conference and slap the **** out of someone who's ducking him, to try and publicly humiliate them into fighting him. But if he did that, all half of these dudes would do is sue him and try to get some money of him. Aaron Pryor should have slapped the **** out of Ray Leonard at that press conference he crashed. I'm still pissed about the fact that he didn't. If he did, Ray would have had to fight him

Crawford should definitely venture out and test the waters to see what's best for his career at this point. Nothing bad to say about Top Rank, but this seems to occur with all of their top fighters.
Same thing is happening right now to Shakur Stevenson trying to to get the fight with his Top Rank stablemate Oscar Valdez.
business 101... protect your investment
PLEASE, start saying something bad about Top Rank... it is clearly obvious whats up
why do you think Crawford's PPV numbers are so low... WTF ?
he doesn't have a bad style, and he doesn't carry a lot of baggage... no idea whats up there ???

I think Crawford is too good to need to have to do anything outside the ring..
He's a legit killer. He has to contain that.
He nearly fought Benavidez twice before their fight.
Arum did bad business. He overpaid to secure one of the top guys. And then he wants Crawford to act like a Jake Paul to get attention.
Speaking of which, Jake Paul without any talent is showing how fighters can make ten times more money if they up their game in the promotion.
But I still don't think Crawford needs to. Spence doesn't. Porter doesn't. Canelo doesn't do anything more than Crawford in promotion.

heres the deal in my opinion
bob is great at taking guys and getting them to a certain level....like bud wasnt some heralded prospect...but he actually took him to a height most prob never expected crawford to reach...which is great
but heres what happens....bud stays with bob when it was prob apparent he should have left not to long ago...thinking bob will get him the pac fight which will be large for bud....bob gives a list of excuses but the reality is he didnt wanna pay for the fight and thought hed lose money...and bob hates losing money now even if it means theres a chance he makes more later....
it was the same with floyd at top rank.....floyd basically left over like a total of 4-6 mil( i think it was) in future guarantees for hatton and cotto fights.....bob wouldnt guarantee him what he wanted and lost floyd over a relatively small amount of money compared to what floyd went on to earn....he even told floyd straight up "i dont wanna get you the oscar fight cause ill lose money on it".......now in no way am i comparing floyd to bud....bud doesnt have that kind of presence....he couldnt pull of the floyd character.....but the reality is bob didnt have the foresight to see what floyd could become......bob gave us all this stuff about not wanting pac to get hurt and "caring" about him and all that nonsense......but bob showed his hand....because after thurman was beaten by pac bob was out there calling for pac/bud....he had previously thought pac to be old and washed up/faded star......bob never landed him good fights....
i blame both guys...bob couldnt land him good fights that he wanted when he should have had them....and thats partially because of bobs relationship with other promoters that held WW cards.....and i blame bud for not being able to see that.....but for some reason bob decided he wanted to keep bud on and keep paying him....so good for bud for milking that cow i guess...BlakBread904 likes this.

exactly, good post !
Pacquiao was a potential breakout fight for Crawford, like Hoya was for Mayweather... and Spence/Crawford was the biggest fight in boxing
THAT... is the kind of exposure Crawford needed
Bob failed to do his job, now he is throwing Crawford under a bus
Arum is a disloyal snake... a compulsive liar... and a stain on this sport... a shlt-stain, to be precise

If only Arum would've let Floyd fight Oscar, instead of trying to make Mayweather vs. Margarito? Would Floyd have stayed at TR? Bob admitted that he "didn't know how to market Mayweather to the "Urban" market!" History often repeats itself!
Mayweather turns down $8 million to fight Margarito
Arum said Mayweather preferred to await the outcome of the May 6 Oscar De La Hoya-Ricardo Mayorga fight instead of committing to Margarito because he would prefer to fight De La Hoya.
"We're not sitting waiting on De La Hoya," Ellerbe said. "He's in a tough, tough fight with Mayorga."
Many in the sport believe a De La Hoya-Mayweather fight is the biggest fight on the horizon and the only one capable of generating 1 million-plus buys on pay-per-view.
The reason Mayweather opted for the buyout rather than waiting for the May 6 result was because the contract had a limited window for the buyout, one that expired before the De La Hoya fight. However, Arum said he would have extended the window if Mayweather had asked. What Arum wouldn't do, he said, was raise the guarantees for other fights outlined in the contract.
Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.
Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.
"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

Bob Arum admits he killed Pacquiao-Crawford fight, didn’t want to see Manny take damage
“Well I killed the fight. Yeah. [I wouldn’t want that for Manny] because I know how it would end...Not that I knew that it would end in serious disability for Manny — that I wouldn’t know — but as a fight it would only end one way.
“Forget my emotions, I wouldn’t wanna see him take that kind of damage because it might affect his future life — quality of his future life.”

and bob didnt wanna lose money on pac/bud...he thought hed lose too much having to meet pacs money demands and that it wouldnt do anything for bud anyway because he viewed pac as a fading star....once pac beat thurman though he was all over it lol

As a promoter I would expect you to get me the biggest purses possible and create avenues for me to be able to do so, and that may mean working with other promoters you are not buddy buddy or friends with but at the end of the day, we both want the same thing; and that's to get paid! Bob insist on not working with certain individuals or taking the backseat approach and because of this and arrogance the fighter suffers. End of got dam story!
