Yea im sure u weren't too pleased when he retired ur boy in ur avi....Vargas, LOL. First gave him a nice knot on his eye that made him quit...then KO'd him right after when he was complaining he wanted a rematch...and sugar shane served him up....i mean c'mon dawg, even delahoya said it....shane messed up by demolishing margarito and got people shook now (yea yea and the pwill "ducking" thing is gettin old, i'm sure shane will fight him next year if he come back down in weight from middleweight).
Don’t Go Away Mad, Shane… Just Go Away

Man i can't even believe people puttin up cotto's past opponents against sugar shanes legacy. How long will it be for cotto to get sure hall of fame status...that should end this discussion right now...i thought this site was about boxing fans, i guess i was fooled.Comment

So what? This article is about who beat who and who has fought the better opposition. Quality of opposition shouldn't be discriminated against in terms of weight divisions. It doesn't matter if Mosley fought at 154. The fact is the tune up type bouts that Shane has taken are a lot better than Cotto's. The only thing that is accurate about this article is of how Mosley got a little too big-headed and the activity has hurt him in terms of marketability. But is Jennings really a fight? That doesn't even count as a fight in my book. So technically, Mosley has fought twice since Cotto's knockout loss to Margarito and Cotto has only fought once since then. That Jennings fight was on some ho-hum PPV against a tomato can and nobody cared about it except hardcore Pavlik fans and hardcore Cotto fans.Comment

Yeah, leave it up to Arum and his "soft opposition" for his top rank fighters in between mega fights. Always about the mighty dollar! He even got one of his fighters being called a maricon straight up, caballero to juanma, and they still duckin.....boooooo, atleast GBP takes risks like ortiz-maidana.....by the way can't wait for maidana-holt, thats pure fireworks! So what? When did Cotto offer Mosley another fight? From my understanding Mosley wanted a fight with Cotto but in LA or Vegas. Bob Arum said that Mosley would want at least 50%, so there wasn't enough money for the fight. Cotto doesn't offer nobody fights. That's Arum's job rememberYou don't seem to have followed boxing for very long! In a world in which there was only one title per division and the sanctioning bodies' rankings were not corrupt and they didn't strip people for bull**** reasons, you'd be right. But there are four titles per division, which means if you go by who's got the titles, there are four fighters per division who are all "the man" (which in itself makes the so-called world titles a ridiculous oxymoron). And the sanctioning bodies' rankings are all corrupt, and they all strip people for bull**** reasons.
Because of that, there is only one title that means anything in terms of anyone being able to claim they are "the man" - and that is The Ring championship.
At the moment, The Ring championship is vacant at Welterweight. To crown a new Ring champion, Mosley and Cotto need to fight each other. Cotto offered Mosley a rematch earlier this year and Mosley turned it down.Comment

Mosley was offered a fight against Cotto at MSG, just after the Margarito win, but turned it down because as you say he was only willing to fight in LA or Vegas. When did Cotto offer Mosley another fight? That's understandable though, because it is impossible to win by decision against Cotto in Madison Square Garden.Comment

When I look at someone's legacy, I give much greater weight to "who did he beat" than "who did he fight". Otherwise, we would be inducting Jesse james Leija into Canastota. Or Oscar would be a top 5 ATG.
He went undefeated against mostly scrubs at 135.
Shane went 2-0 bs Oscar. (most say 1-1. ...tainted w steroids)
He went 0-2 vs Forrest
He went 0-2 vs Winky
He went 2-0 vs a severely shot Vargas.
He KO'd a prime-ish Margarito. Great win.
What else? Should I be giving him mad credit for Collazo? Mayorga? Estrada? Who else?
Consider that Shane turned down Paul Williams earlier this year, but he was about to make a fight with Zab Judah. Zab Super Judah.
Phil, I invite you to tell me the accomplishments that I am missing.Comment

I've been saying this for months now! ssm is a hypocritical crybaby. The only reason he wants to fight pacq and pbf is becuz .........$$$$$$$. Go figure! He didn't want any of the top fighter in 06 becuz he wasnt gettin what he thought he should, Who knows? And now he is avoiding real competition (PW) so he can wait on money fights to fall in his lap.
*** ssm and all his crying and complaining. I hope clottey actually fights a full 12rds this time and puts this failure away.
resume 4 resume ssm does shyt all over cotto! Cotto will never be a HOF fighter. Defeating a jww when u balloon up to around 160 on fight nite is no great feat. He will get destroyed by pbf if he mans the *** up and demands this fight instead of waiting for his slave master to pull his strings.Comment
