This is not a title you are exchaging here. Is a position in a ranking, wich is obtain by previous and recent wins and against who and how.

Just because you beat a guy doeant mean you get his spot in rankings!!!!
This isnt college football. LOL!!! Boxing should be about titles. One more time for all those that dont know. To be the man you got to beat the man and Mosley certainly did that.

What do Shane's previous career accomplishments have to do with this? Boxing, like all other sports, is about what have you done for me lately. Shane sat on the sidelines and Cotto went to work.

Lyle Fitz! I beg to disagree with you regarding Shane Mosley. Shane has every right to say the things he's saying. I'm one of many that thought his fight with Cotto was close enough to go either way! Cotto last fight with Joshua Clottey was a FLUKE. Cotto recieved his Christmas gift early. Me and the majority of boxing fans watching thought Clottey got ROBBED! Sugar Shane came back in the ring a DEMOLISHED and guy (Margarito) who beat Cotto like a step child. Made him quit in the ring! Rather Margarito was fighting clean at that time I don't know. He said he was... No-one could prove that he wasn't! Sugar Shane has every right to say the things he's saying. I don't hear no-one calling him out! I guess I can't much blame them right now. Sugar Shane Mosley is the most dangerous of the welterweights. I believe if he fought Cotto again it wouldn't even be close. I believe Sugar Shane Mosley would Knock him out! He would not leave the fight in the hands of Bob Arum and the judges!!! Just my opinion.... Peace!

            • Ignorant article

Mosley fought Estrada and Cruz in '05, Vargas in '06, and Collazo/Cotto in '07, not all of them in late '07.

              Your article is a yawn.

You don't seem to have followed boxing for very long! In a world in which there was only one title per division and the sanctioning bodies' rankings were not corrupt and they didn't strip people for bull**** reasons, you'd be right. But there are four titles per division, which means if you go by who's got the titles, there are four fighters per division who are all "the man" (which in itself makes the so-called world titles a ridiculous oxymoron). And the sanctioning bodies' rankings are all corrupt, and they all strip people for bull**** reasons.

Because of that, there is only one title that means anything in terms of anyone being able to claim they are "the man" - and that is The Ring championship.

At the moment, The Ring championship is vacant at Welterweight. To crown a new Ring champion, Mosley and Cotto need to fight each other. Cotto offered Mosley a rematch earlier this year and Mosley turned it down.

                • This article is a fucking piece of ****. If you want my honest opinion I thought Mosley was robbed against Cotto. Yeah, I said it. I try to not let this fight cause some posters to get a bad impression of me, but I really have to tell it like it is because of this joke of an article.

If Cotto dominated Mosley why was he the only one hurt in the fight? Why was it Cotto with the cut over his eye at the end of the fight? Why did he get outlanded in power punches? Why did he fail to take the fight to the older fighter in the championship rounds? Why did Benji Estevez wait until Cotto was ready to go down from a big punch to wipe up the canvass in one of the late rounds?

And if you want to talk about resumes, if you really break it down Mosley has actually put up a more impressive run as of late:

                  Mosley's and Cotto's opponents since 2005.
                  1. Fernando Vargas, David Estrada, and Cruz > Gianluca Branco and Ricardo Torres
                  2. Luis Collazo and Ricardo Mayorga > Alfonzo Gomez and Michael Jennings
3.The head to head matchup which I pointed out earlier that Mosley should've won.
                  4. A KO win over Margarito > A KO loss to Margarito.
                  5. And if the Clottey fight becomes a reality how is it going to make Cotto look if Mosley absolutely dominates him when Cotto barely squeaked by him?
                  6. And Mosley won the title by snatching it from the challenger and not in vacant fashion.

those fighters could be greater than Cotto's opponent but they are irrelevant at Welterweight because none of those fight were at welterweight.
