There is a lot of good there, just a case of learning from his mistakes and being better next time out.

Teo also got flak for not finishing off Nakatani, but he learned from it and grew, just as Haney needs to do. Gut feeling is that he lags behind Teo in development though, and can imagine Teo would have finished him off fairly easily.

Campbell would be a good next step for his development (not an easy fight again) - but he needs to stay away from Teo for now (and Loma).
He will. He would learn, get better and improve from his mistakes. The only reason why he kept geting tagged more in this fight; Especially with the left hook because he was willing take more chances and risks against Jorge Linares by fighting flat-footed. He wanted to make a statement. However, I don't see making those same mistakes against Teofimo Lopez. He would be more cautious against Lopez by tightening up his defense and being more fleet-footed.

Then tell me what you really mean boss. Obviously, I misunderstood you because aside from those few rocky moments where Haney was hurt. I thought he pitched a virtual shut out but what say you?

Lmfao it was suppose to be a shutout. Haney fought an old past prime chinny fighter and not only didn't get the ko but also got rocked in the process. Hankey is just a turd polished in gold.

Well Haney has never been known as a slugger or for his punching power. He is a pure boxer which is why he didn't get the knockout. Also, the reason why he got rocked because he actually squared up and fought Linares flat-footed; Which made this a very hotly contested bout at times. Devin took more risks and chances in this fight than at any other time in his boxing career. Other than that, I thought with Devin's jabs and the beautiful combinations he threw. He dominated.

Haney's biggest problem is his lack of power against good opponents. He didn't appear to significantly hurt Linares and didn't knock down a faded Yuriorkis Gamboa in their fight last year. He beat Linares but.................................

Haney is 22 years old... let that sink in all you "wah wah hes a hype job, hes been exposed, wah wah." he went out of his way to challenge himself against a guy who hits hard and was able to deal with it. Will Haney lose a few fights coming up? Perhaps... Hes also on track to develop phenomenally. His jab, his poise, his instinct in the ring... this kid is going to be very good and maybe great. His chin is also fine... He got tagged plenty in the early rounds and shook it off.

Of all the prospects, here is a kid with a real work ethic, who has natural talent, and has been brought along professionally and not as an amatuer... who is winning at a young age against excellent fighters... and people are damning him when he does, as they would if he didn't.

Right now today, if he fought a tourney with all the other prospects that should be fighting each other, I don't know if he would win... But in a few years, when Tank is showing the social skills he learned from Broner and treating boxing as less of a priority, when lopez has to move up in weight, and when Ryan has dealt with his own demons, I would be willing to bet Haney will be top dog out of this group.

I always felt that in the lighter divisions power is a rare commodity. I even went nuts when Juan Ma was knocking them dead lol. Im starting to think power is something that can be developed. Haney will get stronger, he is still a kid. Hey TJ my oldest boy just made Sergeant! On his birthday!
