Why do people (like Mike Coppinger) fall into the Teofimo 'Undisputed' label?

people can split hairs and carry on with semantics about whether someone is undisputed, lineal, unified, or whatever. Bottom line is that beating Loma made Lopez "the man" at 135. He doesnt have to beat Haney to prove it. Haney on the other hand, DOES have to beat Lopez to become "the man" at 135.

And people saying that Loma dumped the belt to avoid a possible Haney mando, well thats just silly. He could just as easily have dumped the belt AFTER the Lopez fight, had he won.

But what if the champion drops the belt to avoid having to fight another boxer? What are we to make of that?

Well it’s suppose to be number 1 vs number 2 for the title. Haney was number 1 but the bum he beat for the title was not number 2 and to be honest prolly not in thr top 10.

Then to be made full status champ via email. That’s a true joke of a title.

These sanctioning bodies are a joke but it’s up to the fighters to have some integrity on who they fighting for that title.

It's not really the same. Loma dropped the WBC belt. He wasn't the champion anymore.

He took a designation that didn't require mandatories. That's not a championship belt. It wasn't even supposed to be transferable!

Teo should be mandatory. He's certainly the top guy in the division. But if undisputed requires the WBC Championship, then he doesn't have it.
