Why do people (like Mike Coppinger) fall into the Teofimo 'Undisputed' label?

I thought the franchise belt couldn't be won. Thought that's what fatty said when he created the first one for Canelo anyway. **** is too convoluted for me to follow anymore. Wake me up when they're done talking and we have a fight to watch.Comment

You kidding yourself right? I don’t think you are a boxing fan, your knowledge is quite low.
Loma dropped the belt, Haney got emailed the belt. That’s that. Nothing else matters. That’s the Ali, Tyson belt… We are not recognising any other BS created for more politics.
You win the 4 belts and you are undisputed. Doesn’t matter if you pick it up from the bin like Lennox did after Bowe dropped it. Win the 4 belts and you are undisputed, Teo has 3 plus the french fries fake belt. None of the other 3 governing bodies recognises it… And thank God for that… so no he isn’t undisputed.Comment

First, I can think of about 50 useless, uneducated and unqualified bloggers to go in on in boxing other than an accredited professional journalist that Mikey is, who holds a college degree, and has worked for major media outlets in print, audio and broadcasting. Second, as much as I like "Copp", I do disagree wholeheartedly on Teo Lopez. Good, above-average fighter....but NO WAY fighter of the year in 2020. Look, it's no secret, I've had my go rounds with addiction and mental health issues. And it is the HARDEST fight you'll ever be in. Tyson Fury literally hated himself to the point he wanted to die. That's a DARK place to go. He was far beyond both mentally and physically. For him to not only lose almost half the weight he had on packed on drinking on a daily basis, keep his addiction demons in check (which trust me, is ****ING HELL), and wake up everyday and have to regain the confidence and belief in yourself that it takes to become the heavyweight champion of the world.....well, seems just a little bit more than Teo had on his plate with an older fighter. Just my take.Comment

Yep according to him it can’t be won. This is why we don’t follow boxing politics, but some people like to, depending on who they support.

I can't believe there's any debate on whether Teo holds the WBC belt. He simply doesn't. Haney's status might be tainted, but he does hold the belt.
The only debate should be whether you even need the WBC belt to be Undisputed. In a division where they have crowned a Franchise Champion, I'd argue that the WBC Championship Belt should not be recognised. They've reduced it to being worth nothing. It's the sort of belt you receive by email for being a decent boxer; you don't even have to win it.Comment

Do you know anything about boxing?
Loma was WBC champ, Lopez beat Loma. It's not Lopez's fault the WBC realised that having more belts means more money so they put the "Franchise" belt on the line and vacated the so called regular title. Haney picked up a paper belt, he didn't fight Lopez or Loma for it.Comment

It’s the french fries belt that shouldn’t be recognise. We are going backward by saying the actual belt that Ali, Tyson, Bowe etc won should be reduced, reduced for what? To accommodate another one of their crappy belts?I can't believe there's any debate on whether Teo holds the WBC belt. He simply doesn't. Haney's status might be tainted, but he does hold the belt.

We already had to deal with the Super, regular, gold etc from the WBA, so when are boxing fans going to step up and stop recognising new BS?
The WBA came up with the Super because anyone of their champions that holds another belt automatic gets upgraded, then they created the regular version of their belt, we accept it and it created more confusion. The WBC now created this french fries belt to be given to another who has a marquee name and it’s non transferable according to their own corrupt chairman.
Loma dropped his WBC belt. And non of the other organisations recognised the french fries one. So no need to complicate things even further. If the WBC wants to scrap the belt that had the history in the one held by Haney then let them come out and say it. So that the other governing body can recognise their french fries belt… But they wouldn’t do that.Comment

You'd agree that in a division with a Franchise Champion, the actual WBC belt is devalued?

The Franchise Belt is a nonsense. It's not a real championship. It doesn't have mandatories, and in theory it's not even able to be lost in the ring, though they make those rules up as they go.
The WBC belt in the division isn't worth much more. It's got great history, but in the present they've turned it into a joke.
I completely agree that boxing fans should take a stand against this crap. My stand is that I don't recognise any WBC belt at middleweight and lightweight. There isn't a WBC belt in those divisions that could define someone as a champion.Comment

It’s not devalued because I don’t recognise it, other governing body doesn’t recognise it neither. It is the People trying to sell it as standard that makes it relevant.

Like you said you cannot be a mandatory to it, you cannot pass it down as their corrupt chairman put it when they gave one to Canelo.
I mean at 160 who thinks Canelo is a WBC champ? No one, because Charlo is the WBC champion. It’s best to ignore the belt and the people who recognises it. If you think that belt is one of the four major belt that makes an undisputed then you are a casual to me. If not tell me the history behind that particular WBC BELT… That’s my question for those who are claiming it’s an undisputed belt.Comment
