It was not that bad of a defeat, even in a loss? Joshua did kept on getting up and trying'.

That is the positive you can take from that fight. The going got tough, he was beating beaten up 'But he kept on trying'.

Reputation only gets damaged when, fighters get blasted out early and have zero success.

Joshua has success vs Ruiz I.

What was more concerning, was his reaction to the defeat and how he has carried it with him since 'Although he is recovering'.

When I say the defeat damaged his reputation I don't mean in the typical BoxingScene "quit against a fat kid doe" way. I mean he suffered a loss and his reputation (and ranking) suffered.

To be honest, I like his response. Got straight back in there, didn't make excuses. He took his loss like a man. Then he developed his style and boxed a completely different way against Ruiz in the rematch. The ability to make adjustments is one of the big differences between a good boxer and a potentially great boxer.

I thought the Pulev fight was impressive. Less bodybuilder than before, but less cautious than against Ruiz. Ideally he'd have another fight or two but the same goes for Fury, who has been inactive and completely changed his style in his last fight to win a rematch after his first draw.

Even if Tyson Fury has signed the contract. There are still no guarantees that the fight would go on as plan. Remember that August is still more than 3 months away. So watch how he makes up some type of lame ass excuse to get out of it like he did against Wladimir Klitschko in their rematch. He signed to fight that fight too but did it happen? Hell Nah! Because he backed out of it at the last moment. He is going to use the Deontay Wilder arbitration case as an excuse to back out of it. Just remember where you've heard it first. Also, bump this thread when it happens!

Here's how I see it at the moment.

1. Fury announces that the match is on but did not say I have signed the contract now that I got a call from Prince Khalid. I am now more hopeful that the match will happen but still do not take it for granted.
2. Unlike many others, I think Joshua has a pretty good chance of taking out Fury. Fury was dropped twice against Wilder the first time around and Wilder ain't a great boxer. Joshua has more chances to hit Fury than Wilder had even if with lesser power. Other than that, Fury hasn't looked great in many fights except Klitschko and that was years ago. Is it the same Fury? I am putting this a 50-50 fight. Heck, if Wilder comes back actually having learned even a portion of what his training show, I give him a good chance of beating Fury.

I'm still inclined to say the Ruiz defeat was a freak occurrence. Joshua not at his best, Ruiz is the condition of his life after back to back camps, Joshua trying too hard to provide a spectacular finish in the US. Then one punch from nowhere... never recovered.

Of course there's an argument that Ruiz finally realised his potential. Was simply a better fighter and proved it. But of course you'd then have to give credit to Joshua for a dominant win over him in the rematch.
Either way, the Joshua v Ruiz discussion is dead. Joshua went in as champion, came out as champion. Reputation slightly damaged, but undoubtedly learned from the loss.

Joshua was making his debut in the US and wasn’t at his “best”? He’s a pro boxer getting paid millions and given ample time to train to be at his “best” and he failed to do that? Is that what you’re saying?

How is Joshua-Ruiz fight dead? Joshua got knocked out by a journeyman. It is a big deal and will stain his legacy. Especially after Fury beats him. I bet you’ll still find ways to defend that loss by saying Ruiz damaged Joshua hence the 2nd loss of his career.

This fight is not confirmed. Even espn couldn't confirm it when they quoted tyson fury saying that on their little tweet. Also, announcing it before the arbitration's conclusion is premature when no one knows what's going on in regards to it. There is also a conflict going on in israel where flights could be affected. Don't believe everything you read till it's 100% concrete. I calling this fake till proven otherwise.

on-going arbitration cant stop Fury from continuing to fight, and even if it goes against Fury, he does NOT have to give Wilder another fight. Will have to pay a “damage” settlement, but cannot b forced to give Wilder another beatdown!

Wilder hit fury with his best shots in at 12 round when he was 50% fit and could not keep him down and still lost the rest of the round

As soon as he fought a good version of Fury, it was a one sided annihilation.

Wilder could never and will never beat Fury. They are on completely different levels

So, what are you trying to say? That Fury and AJ will be one-sided? That Fury would annihilate Joshua too? I doubt it. I surely do believe Wilder had a bad night and if Wilder can hit him more in a rematch, it would be more competitive and could even go the other way. Sure he outboxes Wilder and I said that in my post.

Fury is not some sort of unbeatable monster that you're trying to make him.
