nobody said it was a "prime" winky, or even a winky close to his best....i'm sure the layoff played a small factor, but bottom line, dude beat the hell outta WW, and i don't know any other fighter that can say the same....

winky got his ass whooped that night, and williams made it look easy.

2 years off or not, nobody puts a beatdown on winky wright like the one he received that night.

my only question is if floyd get his ass whooped like that, will we be allowed to use that 2-year layoff as an excuse too...

so let me get this correct. PWill gets credit for beating a 37 year old fighter that was coming off a 2 year layoff? WOW. now im not saying PWill is a bum but he is getting to much respect for doing very little in the ring.

Paul Williams seems to think that as an untested middleweight he can ask for a huge chunk of the purse against the middleweight champion. Paul Williams has basically no following, is incredibly boring to watch, and has a style that makes fights awkward.

He's not avoided because he is good, he's avoided because there's literally no reason to fight him.

That said, if they did fight Pavlik would probably KO him within 5.
If you think Paul Williams is boring to watch you are an incredibly ignorant boxing fan.

PWill is a good fighter but Pavlik (who i also think is a bit over rated) should not get dismissed for losing to BHop. Bhop is an all time great. Pavlik has faced and beaten better opposition and has lost to much much better opposition.

Hopkins is an old fighter. I can't believe how ignorant some of Pavlik's fans are with comments like this.

not a Pavlik fan, as i stated he is a bit over rated, but Bhop is still a very elite fighter at an old age. he is a rare athlete.

Hey, guys. Seriously. As boxing fans, we gotta be careful here.

Kelly Pavlik is clearly going through some heavy ****. He is a depressed guy. He has obvious substance abuse issues. Based on what we have seen going on in the world of sports recently, we should try to support the guy.

I'm no Kelly fan. Quite the opposite. But I recognize and appreciate him getting off the canvas to KO Jermain. I respect that KP didn't quit when Bernard was absolutely taking him to school.

Michael Beasley is suicidal. Vince Young flipped out. Alcohol abuse essentially killed Diego Corrales.

I hope Kelly can pull it together.

You think he'd forgot more than he could remember during training? To a point, it is like riding a bike. Once you know, you know. And the age thing...would you get in the ring with Lennox Lewis, who's past 40, and has been out of pro boxing for many years now? Surely, he'd fall apart if you landed a decent punch. He's practically a zombie, eh? Point is, it takes quite a bit for a very good veteran to lose convincingly, EVEN at 37.

he gets credit for not for beating a 37-year-old fighter, but for beating the ass of said fighter.....like i said, you'd be hard pressed to see ANYBODY lump winky up, the way PW did. 2-year layoff, or not.
