Team Paul Williams: "Kelly Pavlik is Hiding Out"

I don't understand why the Williams camp just doesn't wait a month or two. It is a lineal middleweight title shot after all. They way I understand this is, Pavlik's team wanted to postpone because of a staph infection, and Williams team pulled out. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. If Pavlik has staph, then it should be easily verifiable and if they still want to fight a guy with a staph infection or not want to let him completely heal from it, then that's really irresponsible, kind of gross, and not very sportsmanlike.

Why should Pwill wait on someone who hasn't even shown his face? Also, if you didn't know, inactivity can set a young fighter back and stunt his growth. The most recent example is Sam Peter. I am not going to say he was going to be Lennox or Tyson, but after the second James Toney fight most felt he was getting more seasoned and better. He got rocked by McCline but still managed to come back and outwork him to a UD. In these two fights, Peter showed a better offensive arsenal and good punch output. Afterwards, he got caught up trying to get the Maskaev fight and didn't fight for close to a year. He never regained the form of the two previous fights.

Comparing Paul Williams to Sam Peter is like comparing apples to oranges.
If your main concern for Williams is ring rust, well its not like Pavlik is staying active in the ring in meantime so there really is no advantage for either guy.
Williams should wait because he's the challenger and Pavlik is the middleweight champ. Simple as that. Williams is talented and a freak, but aside from Margarito at 147, he has yet to fight for a championship belt, let alone a lineal title, against a champion who is in his prime. The Winky victory was impressive, but Winky is old and had been inactive and wasn't even ranked at the time.
Truth is, 160 and 154 are pretty weak divisions right now. The only 3 fighters I'd like to see Williams fight in those divisions would be either Pavlik, Martinez, or Dzindziruk. The rest are just a waste of time although fights against Mora or Cintron might be mildly amusing.
