I already dropped one argument today over it, not looking to get into another.

Needless to say I find Paul Williams unentertaining to watch. Some will agree, some will not. Take it as you will. If you are gonna attack me over it to the extent some of you have then I imagine I won't really care what your opinion is either way.

edit: And what if I was a clown or a ****sexual, would it make you a bigger fan of boxing? Would it make you smarter or better? Grow up. I wouldn't attack a person over their opinion on boxing, but being a bigot just makes you a tool.
Makes me a tool? Being some weirdo that has a fetish for kittens makes you what?

You said Paul Williams doesn't have a fanbase, therefore the majority agree with you that he is boring. You said it. Not me. Not only is that pure bull****, but it's hilarious you are trying to run from your own words. A guy that is all action and throws a barrage punches, leaving his chin open so that he can keep firing is the opposite of boring. If Paul Williams is boring, 90% of every boxer to lace up the gloves is boring. You also made references to Williams somehow pricing himself out of the fight, blaming that, not Pavlik, for being the reason the fight is off. Clearly you are delusional and opinion is opinion, but facts are facts. Learn the difference.

Where did you get that out of the source? That Williams wants more money from a contract that is already signed? Who pulled out again? Why sign a contract if you are not healthy to compete and pull out with less than 24 hours before the press conference in NYC? And finally, he hasn't earned the shot? HBO seems to think otherwise, hence the huge money being offered. They know a star when they see one. On top of that, Williams beat the brakes off Winky, a guy that would SCHOOL Pavlik. So what MW should Pavlik be fighting? Rubio or Mora? Get the **** outta here.

Damn Pavlik! As a fan you are one of the most disappointing fighters recently. A guy who kicked Taylor's when he was the ****, against the odds, kicked Miranda's ass when Miranda was the next wrecking ball from Colombia and now since you lost to Bhopp you are talking and acting like ****ing Calzaghe! People won't buy into your **** even if you happen to find a couple 40 year olds to wrap up the "career" and call yourself an ATG. So GET BUSY and fight damn you.

The whole point of this thread should be the fact that Pavlik has totally lost his swagger. I think Paul Williams is an exciting fighter even though that guy with the kitten in his avy is entitled to his opinion. I don't really view Cotto as an exciting fighter like a lot of other people do. Because he fights dirty when things are not going his way and he runs in the championship rounds. He doesn't clinch though. I'll have to give him that.

Paul Williams seems to think that as an untested middleweight he can ask for a huge chunk of the purse against the middleweight champion. Paul Williams has basically no following, is incredibly boring to watch, and has a style that makes fights awkward.

He's not avoided because he is good, he's avoided because there's literally no reason to fight him.

That said, if they did fight Pavlik would probably KO him within 5.
1.) You havent seen him fight, just admit it.

2.) Williams has a decent fanbase after convincing wins over Margarito & Winky.

3.) Williams gave Winky a beating no one has before, Winky would have beaten a lot of top middleweights with his style, but Williams was too active.

4.) Williams has called everyone out from 147-160, Margarito & Winky are fighters that wouldn't duck anyone hence they fought Williams.

5.) 120+ punches per round, thats the most active fighter for you right now. Those punches dont just include jabs, they have a variety; left/right hooks, jabs and uppercuts. Hooks to the body and head, punches coming from awkward angles.

If you find that "boring" then you are entitled to your own opinion but then it would be an ignorant statement. I think you haven't seen him fight before and are going by what you have read about him on boxing forums by fans of certain fighters who dont like Williams.

It really, really does. Don't talk smack against a fighter in a thread where his fanbase lies. =)

I have seen him fight. I first saw him fight Margs and was not impressed. Maybe I am biased but thats where it started. I since watched him in the first Quintana and the Winky Wright fight. I wasnt appalled by him, just wasnt drawn in.

Semi convincing over margs and convincing over Winky, yes. But not overly exciting fights. And yes, he does he does have a fanbase. It's not a gigantic fanbase like Pac, or a rabid one like Cotto, but it's modest. Just not enough of a paying fanbase to warrant a fight.

While he won that fight convincingly even in my opinion Winky isnt a good fight. He makes no one look good. I wasn't impressed by the fight because I wasn't entertained by the fight. I didn't enjoy the fight. It's like a football game won by good field progression and field goals. Sometimes you gotta see that one amazing touchdown.

Yes. He has called a lot of fighters out, but that doesnt mean anything. Fighters call out other fighters all the time. The ends have too justify the means. This is what my initial post was all about. Williams is a great fighter, he's just too high risk and too low reward. Maybe, eventually he'll move out of that. Just not right now. He asks of a lot more than he should be. Cotto is fighting Pac for 35% of the purse, Williams isn't at Cotto level of stardom yet. I understand that this is based on an old contract but it is still a contract he was asking for.

Yes...actively punching, not actively doing any real damage, not actively getting hurt and returning the hurt. I like drama, I like damage, I like knock downs, I like KO's. I don't think that makes me a weird, horrible boxing fan. Just one that likes action more than science. I appreciate science, but I like it mixed with drama. I appreciate that Williams has a godly amount of stamina and that he can make all sorts of weights, I just don't like watching him fight, and I think others are with me. Maybe he just needs the right opponent.

I don't think it's ignorant, I think its my opinion and it's different than yours. I don't agree with every post on here, and I voice my opinion against it, but I rarely if ever call someone ignorant.

Overall I didn't mean to pick a fight with an entire fanbase, but I was probably asking for it. Regardless, just because someone doesn't like your fighter doesn't make them ignorant. Just makes them different. I don't think Williams is bad, just not entertaining to me. If that makes me ignorant than so be it.
