As per Cotto's own words on Friday, not a legal advisor or nothing like this thread's source. He said that the belt issue was on his legal teams side and if that would fail he will have no problem turning in the belt. To my best knowledge that's were it's at right now.
Please note that the source is Michael Koncz not Cotto. There can be another thread tomorrow from Cotto's corner saying that the title will not be on the line.
I will stick to what I heard from the Boxer (Cotto) himself, who by the way is the current title holder of the belt and will be the only one that can determine if the belt will or will not be on the line for this fight. Because if the WBO mandates the title to be on the line and Cotto turns it in, Guess what, there will be no WBO title.
This is just another thread that has non official information. But that's good, it will only help hype more the fight with all the fans discussing all these prefight issues.
you are dead wrong on your highlighted statement.
cotto can choose not to put his belt on the line...even return it to wbo and vacate the title.
but it is wbo who can say if the belt is on the line for manny to win it.
and wbo already said that the belt will go on the line.
manny will be declared wbo welter champion if he wins.....
title is vacant if cotto wins.
Ronnie must be on drugs, Joshua was the IBF welterweight champion before vacating, he didn't "move up" to fight Cotto.
you noticed that too....haha
ronnie always make slips...he's not that meticulous.
but clottey, i believe, was stripped of his ibf belt...he didn't vacate voluntarily.
Diamond belt! What the hell is that!! Damm these sanctioning bodies sure do collect alot of cash!! No wonder there is four of them! The more fake champs there are, the more money they get! I only go by the Ring Magazine! The Fans know who the real champs are!!
Listen, we all know, even if you want to make believe you dont know. Cotto wanted this fight at 147 like every other challenger for that belt in history.
The statement I made had nothing to do with money it had all to do with Pac trying to make history by having the rules bent to benefit him in making history. Why didn't he just make history at 147?: smileysex
ryt,....
i am a pacfan....and i say...
pac should see the light and that he should fyt miguel at 147 for the belt.
then all this drama and b**l**** will stop.
good for his legacy and quest for history...
Cotto can make decent paydays regardless of who he fights because of all those Boricuas that come out and support him. He shouldn't have to put up the belt if Pacquiao doesn't want to fight him at 147. But I don't understand why Cotto just doesn't go in another direction. He totally played himself by talking about how bad Arum treated him and then turning right back around and signing a deal with him. A stipulation of that deal is a fight with Pacquiao. So if he backs out of this fight, he won't be Arum's slave then. Right?
cotto knows very well that beating manny will give him the key to a brighter future.
cotto is a willing prosti to arum the pimp...
..scratch my back and i'll scratch yours....
..everybody listens when money talks....
..money changes everything...
delahoya lost to pacquiao when he use the services of calderon. if this is true, it was a bad decision for cotto. using other fighters' skills will not help him win over pacman. he should bank on his own style to win.
but cotto is off to lose to a smarter and the best fighter of this era, manny pacquiao.

I know the size difference isn't as great between Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams as it is with Cotto and Pac. But you don't see Williams telling Pavlik, "I'll fight you, but you have to come down to 157." And Pacquiao is a part of the problem with this belt. I'm not ******. If he wasn't, then he would let it be known that he wants a legit title and not some watered down one. As worthless as Cotto's WBO belt is that he won from Michael Jennings in a vacant fashion, it still holds more weight than the joke of a trinket that Suliman is inventing.
I agree, Manny Pacquiao should have manned up and fought Miguel
Cotto at 147 for the WBO title to put more emphasis on his legacy.
Considering he has fought at the 147Lb limit before with Oscar De
La Hoya? What's the difference with Cotto? Manny and team Pac
basically did everything in their power to lean everything in their
favor to make Pac look great and that's really lame. With Pacquiao
though, it has been constant drama about weight and a title? I hope
Cotto puts Pac out BUT the only downside to it is When/IF Cotto does
do it, people will say Pac was too small BUT Pac is the one making all
the rules to fit in his favor. Freddie Roach is a phony, always bragging
about how great Pac is but not willing to let him go that extra mile.
A legit 147 title fight between Pac/Cotto would have been a way to
go win or lose BUT now we have all this weight drama AND a another
worthless title. IF somebody doesn't stop Pac I can only imagine
what other rules they will bend or break. I like Pac but not a big
fan of him especially at this time and am leaning towards Cotto
AND to many that is a surprise I'm sure.
