Meaning he doesn't have any alternative fight to present at the bargaining table. Dog eats dog in business world and lawyers are all around to give advices to the fighters that will maximize their earning power and of course take all the advantages they can come with.
You say that Pacquiao has other options, but what are those exactly? Is he willing to fight Timothy Bradley? We know damn well that he doesn't want to fight Shane Mosley. I think Cotto should scrap this fight and try to get a fight with Mosley. But the problem with that is, that Mosley would probably just keep after the Pac Man. Manny has become the the Oscar clone when it comes to preventing meaningful fights happen.

Pacquiao has lot of options he can present in the bargaining table. Pacquiao can go with Shane Mosely and earn probably the same amount as fighting Cotto or Berto or Bradley and a lot more.

You are right when you mentioned Pacquiao became a clone of Dela Hoya and he's trying very hard to earn more money and maximize his earning potential while he's still hot. But can you blame him?

Right now Pacquiao's priority is boxing but comes 2010 most probably Pacquiao will become a member of House of Representative and will eventually concentrate more in politics.

How did this sheep fool people into thinking he was wolve?

Is he really our P4p # 1 fighter? Is this how our best should behave? fighting past legends, fighting titleholders and creating fugazy legacies. Draining premier fighters to pad your resume and MAKE history reflect on you kindly!

Manny pacquiao is a phony, a fake, a stan with his karate a$$!!!!

        HAHAHAHAH!!!! My mann.Good hammer.

Get real. There is no way Pac earns the same amount from fighting any other opponent (since Mayweather is unavailable) and you know this. I don't blame him for trying to earn as much money as possible and that, my friend, is Cotto's Ace in the pocket. Cotto will be fighting for two and half more years (that is what he has stated numerous times) and can keep earning money fight after fight precisely because his fights are exciting and he has a large fan base. Pac's clock is running out. As I stated in a previous post, if Pac walks away (and it will be him not Cotto) he has to face Mosley for less money. Berto brings nothing else to the table except a title and that means it will attract the same people that would watch the Cotto fight anyways minus Cotto's fans.

My prediction is that one way or another Pac will cave, most probably by offering a larger percentage of PPV sales or something of the like for Cotto to acquiesce to put the belt. Either that, or Cotto vacates and the WBO allows Pac the right to gain the belt if he wins. Cotto will not back down believe me.

In La La land perhaps. Cotto is training and will fight belt or no belt. Will Pac?

                • Doesn’t make any difference, Cotto will KO Pacquiao in 6 rounds with belt or not belt in the line. People seen to be not to have honor in which they talk about it. If you have a contract which stipulates 145 pounds as a catch weight and no title involve, then that’s what you agree; now people start changing thing around with no respect as a real gentlemen. They are trying to get Cotto very upset because they know very well they went into the cave wolf, now they are very scare to get hurt with the Cotto Lyon.

I wish you have more e-points to bet.

I'll bet that Cotto will give everything whatever Pacquiao desires for the fight.

I'd bet the little I have (i just started) but the problem is that the result might be subjective (he caved! he did not cave!) or might not come to light in its entirety. But tell me, who will Pac fight if he dares walk away?
