No need to be unfriendly. He's not fighting at 140 is he? 143 or 144, so it is just a few pounds. Almost all boxers have to cut some major weight to make fights. For just a few pounds he could rehydrate quite easily with a good dietician. He's prepared to go to 144 so this extra 1 pound is gamesmanship.

He has said he thinks he'll be weight drained at anything under 145. Even 144 would make the fight into a farce, IMO, and I hope he says no. And from Manny's point of view, and in terms of his legacy, it would do a million times more for him if the fight was at 147. Anything under that, and there would always be a serious question mark over the win, in most people's minds, if he won.

I actually think Pacquiao would be prepared to fight him at 147, and as you say it would do more for his legacy to beat Cotto at that weight. I think it's his team that are doing all the negotiating and trying to get Cotto to fight at an uncomfortable weight, Pacquiao has always said he'd fight whoever his management put in front of him.

Ok, so why did you refer to him fighting at 140?

143 or 144, so it is just a few pounds. Almost all boxers have to cut some major weight to make fights.

No, most fighters dont have to "cut" three or more pounds than usual.

143 is not Cotto's natrual weight for a fight. That would be a serious disadvantage not to mention unhealthy. No matter how much he "rehydrates" the damage will have been done. That takes it's toll on the body. Cotto has to work very hard just to make 147. Your rationalizations are ridiculous. I'm not saying that to be "unfriendy." Those are facts. If Pacquiao can't fight top welterweights at their natrual weight then he should stay the hell out of the division.

Pacquiao is his own boss. If he truly wanted the fight at 147 he could make it happen. Paquiao doesn't work for Freddie Roach. It's up to him.

In June 6, of 2006 (3 yeras ago)to be exact, but guess what, Pacaman was at 147 in Dec, 6 of 2008 (6 months ago) What should be easier for Pacman to fight at 144 which he was heavier than that 6 months ago or for Cotto to fight at 144 hwich he has not ben close to that for more than 3 months????

This is how Roach wants Cotto to look.

If Pacquiao wants to fight Mayweather, Cotto or Mosley.. it should be at welterweight. If not then he shouldn't fight them at all.
Personally I am against all three match ups and I know Mayweather isn't gonna go down to that weight because he can't and neither can Miguel Cotto.
I hope this fight collapses and the Mayweather one does to..
That way Mosley, Cotto and Mayweather can all fight each other.

I'm with you. Not like Cotto or Pac need each other, damn sure Cotto don't need to fight ANY top opponent weight drained again. Let them go for a weight drained Mosley or Floyd. No ticki no laundry.....
