absolutely he deserves it, Roach was quoted from that article as saying "The lower I can get Cotto the better" .. wow Roach, really noble act, why not suggest fighting Cotto at 142.

this is really becoming a circus act as Dave is implying, and turning into more of "how much can I drain out of my opponent before the fight"

if this 144-143 catchweight rubbish goes through I think the Henry Armstrong comparisons have to end, as I doubt Armstrong would try to get his trainer to suck his opponent dry.

and yes Manny has the leverage of being Pound For Pound #1

but on the contrary, Cotto and Mosley and Mayweather are three of his biggest fight options, and much better than anyone Pacquiao could face at 140

they (especially Roach) shouldn't be so stingy about the weight (143-144)

because as this article implies, it could kill the fight all together

but im sure the talks will continue and time will tell

how about roach trying to get manny at less of a disadvantage?
He may as well make a fight with Wlad Klitschko in which Wlad has one arm tied behind his back and his feet tied together. That would give Manny less of a disadvantage too, but it wouldn't be a meaningful sporting contest, and it would do nothing for his legacy. It may be an extreme example, but the principle's exactly the same.

And the sad thing is that Manny really would have a very good outside chance of beating Cotto at 147 - and if he achieved that, he'd be legitimately compared with Armstrong and Ray Robinson. But if he doesn't want to take that risk, he should defend his lineal title against the top contenders in his own division, as all great fighters do. He's a multi-millionaire, he has no need to damage his legacy for the sake of a little extra money.

there was an article a month ago that stated the same thing about pacqiuao's people wanting to bring cotto down as low as possible so i don't really think roach and his people are going to budge

            it's the truth though.

for his fighter the lower the weight the better.

no matter what the weight is , cotto will weight 10-15 lbs. more than his fighter.

the lower he gets the weight the closer it is to cotto being 10 lbs. heavier instead of 15.

i don't agree with it though.

just let manny fight a tuneup at 140 and then wait for floyd-jmm winner.

            tired of the cotto-pac nonsense.

people will just discredit pac's win over cotto anyway.

just have manny stay at 140 with a tuneup.

              cotto can fight other welters.

              solves the problem.

manny can just wait for jmm-floyd winner.

he can meet jmm at 140 or 138 or even at 135.

floyd wouldn't be a problem size wise at any weight because floyd doesn't come in the ring at 160-165 as cotto does anyway.

**** Roach and Pacquiao!! Make the Cotto/Mosley 2 and let the so called p4p champ fight a light welterweight instead of trying to drain these fighters. He will always be known as the fighter that drained all his opponents for his advantage. Wow what a legacy!

manny has no control over what roach says.

roach is manny's advisor not the other way around.

manny listens to roach , not roach listens to manny.

manny pays roach for his advice.

like i said......if it was up to me forget this fight.

but this fight will happen more likely than not.
