If Cotto is a big draw, saturday's fight would have been on PPV. With the fight being on regular HBO, this means that they know it would be pointless having it on PPV.

One thing about floyd is that he didint have a huge marketing machine based around centering his sub ethnic group as a fanbase and promoting him to no end as the next big thing out of his country. It took floyd forever to gain that noteriety, even throwing himself into the fire taking on on matches people felt he wasnt ready for, considering he won a LEGIT title against a LEGIT titleholder by 1998 and his career started shortly after 96, he should have been the greatest thing ever coming out of the united states, but he didint have that luxury.

With pac, he had to work his ass off to become the star he is today, again, throwing himself in with guys who were the most skilled in his division, while i have reservations about the 3rd morales and 2nd barrera fight, both of them he took on and won, without some huge marketing machine grooming him to be a star since day one.

Mayweather and Pac had a harder road to their success than cotto. If mayweather had a microscope on him, and had this huge sub ethnic fanbase backing him like cotto does from basically day one, then both him and pac would have been huge within the first few years of their career.

When you look at cottos ppv numbers against Malignaggi, Judah, etc, and look at floyds ppv numbers against Judah, Baldomir, his first 2 mind you, where do they stand? Those were all fights where cotto was the "star" attraction, not to mention cotto was on PPV alot quicker than mayweather was.


Also, cotto has next to ZERO charisma, people arent really drawn to him outside of his puerto rican bretheren. There is a reason why they keep him at MSG.

Fraud jr & his nut huggin friends like to add a couple of thousands to their ppv buys.

Fraud jr's true test of ppv power was baldomir & judah. Now with the marquez fight. The fact that he's american & he only outsold Pac vs hatton by less than 100k in a bad economy says a lot about Pacquiao's (who isnt american, doesnt live in america & can barely speak english while at the same time not a flashy personality) drawing power.

Vegas is hardly even mayweathers hometown. Its not like he has this huge group of diehard fans who support him there, its ****ing vegas. Not grand rapids or some other midwest spot. Mayweathers ability to draw transcends the fact that he lives in vegas, its beyond that. Regardless, EVERYONE WHO MATTERS fights in vegas. Hes not just staying around some high concentration of an ethnic subgroup that hes apart of (I.E Cotto)

Hatton was always a big star in UK. He became a draw in US because of 24/7 and his fight against Mayweather. Hatton wasn't the draw in that fight in US. Not even close. He was the main reason it sold out so fast because of his fans coming over but not for PPV purchases in US. His fights in US previous were against Collazo and Castillo on HBO not PPV. The DLH fight is what you have to look at and Pac did a little over half of what Mayweather did with Oscar.

Don't forget that DLH Cotto was almost a sure thing if Cotto got past Marg. DLH said he wanted the winner, assuming of course it was gonna be Cotto, then backed off after Marg won. Cotto would have had that same chance as May and Pac
