1980s: Ray Leonard: His victories over Duran, Hearns and Hagler were epic. Runner up: Julio Cesar Chavez.
1990s: Roy Jones Jr. – At his best, he inspired awe. Runner up: Pernell Whitaker.
2000s: Manny Pacquiao – Sorry Floyd but you need to fight the best to be the best. Runner up: Floyd Mayweather.

The world is a strange place.
Pacquiao beats 2 over the hill fighters and all of a sudden he's the fighter of the decade.
Everyone knows Dela Hoya was over the hill.DelaHoya couldnt beat Forbes and he was swollen all over in that fight getting pummeled by a known non puncher.Pacquiao beats the same guy then Pacquiao is a legend.
Paccquiao beats Hatton an over the hill guy and Pacquiao gets compared to Sugar Ray Leornard.What a heap of cow dung.

Anyone that argues with Pac as fighter of the decade until this point is simply biased. He's accomplished more than anyone, arguably fought the hardest competition, and has consistetly gotten better each fight. He's done things no other fighter has done in history. He's not as skilled as some fighters, but fighter of the decade isn't just about skill. That's the beauty of this sport.
