This all could be avoided. Just fight another Welterweight. Maybe one thats named Mosley. Floyd is a cancer to boxing.
For everyone that says Floyd can't make 140

Co sign!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let hive have Ivan at 154, hell Ivan is the #7 p4P and he is the JR FLyWeight king. So it wont Matter if Ivan is moving up 46 Pounds I mean, beating the #7 P4P and the FLyW King is legacy enhancing!!!!!!!!Comment

Thats no fair to Floyd, Ivan would whoop his ass.Comment

Agreed, the fight should be at 140. Its still ridiculous because Marquez is to small to do any real boxing against Floyd.
Even Juan Diaz looked a good deal bigger than him at 135.Comment

JMM wants the fight with Mayweather and has talked openly about Floyd being the best on a number of occasions. JMM is smaller then Floyd no doubt, it is always why I thought Floyd would have beat JMM had they fought at 130 pounds. So I am kind of interested in this fight to see if my hypothesis is correct (if only JMM was around at 130-135 when Floyd fought there then this fight would have been really interesting, but this is boxing so fights always get made 3 years to late).
I am more interested to see what Floyd does next, people say Pacman but that fight is not really easy to make (lots of egos), Mosley would be good but can that fight ever get made should not be as hard as the Pacman fight but both men have found reasons to not have a fight with the other at various times. From there who knows maybe Cotto (if he leave Top Rank I think his chances are better) if he keeps winning, maybe Spinks but that is a lesser option more just to stay busy, hope Berto builds his star or some 140 pounder becomes big (that he can drag up to 147 but both of these will take some time).
Really he does not have that many good options (if he fights Mosley I can almost guerentee they fight twice) and some could get knocked off it is boxing after all. I just want to see the aims (and if he has to change them for better or worse) of his comeback before I really judge what he is doing with it.
As for the question, I have to see where he is at in the JMM fight to assess it he has been gone for long enough that things could be different. In the past though yea he could have made 140 atleast until the Oscar fight, after that it is kind of an unknown.Last edited by The Gambler1981; 04-30-2009, 12:52 PM.Comment

Let's all take a deep breath.
Answer this question for me:
If Marquez came into his last couple of fights at 142-144, and Mayweather came into his last few fights at 146-148, then how is this fight INHERENTLY unfair??
Doesn't the "unfairness" come from the fact that Floyd CHOSE to condition himself to be able to fight at a higher weight? He clearly could have stayed at JWW and dominated that division.
Joan Guzman is damn near 150 on fight night. Is it FLOYD'S problem that Gooz can't fight at welterweight?
BTW: where were all these "weight complainers" when Floyd gave up 18-ish pounds vs Oscar?Comment
