            Answer this question for me:

If Marquez came into his last couple of fights at 142-144, and Mayweather came into his last few fights at 146-148, then how is this fight INHERENTLY unfair??

Doesn't the "unfairness" come from the fact that Floyd CHOSE to condition himself to be able to fight at a higher weight? He clearly could have stayed at JWW and dominated that division.

Joan Guzman is damn near 150 on fight night. Is it FLOYD'S problem that Gooz can't fight at welterweight?

BTW: where were all these "weight complainers" when Floyd gave up 18-ish pounds vs Oscar?
No need to get off like that. Let's just enjoy the fact that Floyd returns to give boxing some needed attention. Let him have this tune-up (because that's what it is) and then get down to business.

He has to fight them to be great? He's so much bigger then JMM? Come on now. He was 146 against Zab & Baldy. He looked like a flat board in the ring. He's 147 against them and Pac is 147 when he was fighting at 130 but yet they try to play Floyd like he's this super big monster picking on the little guys. I mean everyone now says that Zab doesnt belong anywhere near WW but yet Floyd should fight all the biggest guys and then some? Those weights are 2 years apart and he's still the same thing. Youre going to tell me that he's a real WW or that he had to go to WW? He didnt. He didnt even have to go to 140. He's super small. You can even see that in the At&t commercial. I still say that he's not only the best P4P but he's the smallest guy in boxing P4P

Man here I thought I was the king of contradiction
I think you just stole my crown. Please post where Cotto and all the other "big Welters" enter the ring at 162-170, I just find it hard to believe

You are not allowed to make sense on these boards...sorry, you're wrong

It's the same with Pac if we use him as an example. For instance: Had Pac fought Floyd right after Diaz (and we'll just say Floyd was not retired)....people would be faulting Floyd for fighting a 135 pound fighter while he is a WW...even though Pac weighed in at 147 pounds for that "135" pound division and Floyd comes in at 147+ himself. So would Pac really be moving up two divisions? Maybe technically by people only looking at the surface but he wouldn't be moving up in weight.

Fight-Time weight is the most important thing to look at because that tells you what the fighters are for the actual fight.
If they want to call themselves "135" pound fighters, let them make weight on the scale for 135, take them right off and fight them at 135; let's see how they do.

Pardon me if I'm mistaken, but I read your posts as if you believe that the fight at 143+ is a fair matchup.

So what we have is a retired no.1 p4p fighter to fight the present no.2 or 3 fighter after 2 years of inactivity at a fair weight.

What do you guys think the odds will be for this fight? It almost sounds as if Floyd should be the underdog.

Well... here is what you have to ask yourself: is the fight fair at a catchweight of 141 pounds? That is exactly midway between 135 (where JMM is) annd 147 (where PBF was). Objective people would say 'meet me halfway' sounds fair.

Now, with Floyd being 2 years inactive, is a 2 or 3 pound concession by Marquez fair? Maybe. Maybe not. I think 143/144 is reasonable. Here's why:

Marquez can force Floyd to strip down a few pounds. Something Floyd hasn't had to do since the Gatti fight. That is four years ago. Meanwhile, Marquez retains complete flexibility to come in at the weight where - wait for it - HE FEELS BEST.

A boxing weight is a LIMIT . Not a "must hit". Floyd weighed in at 150 for Oscar (154). He then was 148 on fight night. He was never going to be the bigger man, so why artificially blow up? Marquez can do the same thing. Come in at 138, 139.5, 141.2687, 142.99999. Whatever.

Many posters on here keep saying 'Marquez can't carry 147'. My response? WHY WOULD HE HAVE TO? Nobody is establishing an minimum weights for him to hit. marquez will be fighting a guy who weighs approximately the same as what Pacquiao weighed in their 2nd fight. Where is the unfairness?

I wonder if these guys know that you can weigh in as light as you want to. You can weigh in at 131 for a Welterweight bout if you wanted to.
