Sure and I can agree with you on that. However, if we were to scale these situations 1-10 on how far they are pushing negotiations(whatever you want to call I, I have no idea how to word it). Id rate PBF-Oscar a 6 and PBF/Marquez a 7. I dont think they are dramatically that big of a difference.

Legacy-wise winning a belt at a higher weight meant quite a lot. Obviously the money did as well. And De La Hoya's name on his résumé did as well. They were all factors.

Sure it did. Ill agree just dont act like it wasnt an advantage to Oscar to fight at 154. Thats all im saying.

I wasn't, I give him props for that. I was just saying that it wasn't legitimate to criticise Oscar for not coming down in weight to fight him, whereas it is legitimate to criticise Floyd for not wanting to fight JMM at 140 (whether you think he's justified on the basis of being the bigger draw or not).
I never critised Oscar. He negotiated the contract to give him the best chance to win. much like Floyd is here....I was backing up Floyds(even though Id like to see the fight at 140) RIGHT to negiotiate how he wants to since hes obviously holding the cards. I dont see how its fair to critise him for not coming down, Marquez called him out.

        I have a feeling we'll see catch weight 144.

I dunno man but boxing is ucked up.

          • Floyd Mayweather beating up a an over weight JMM is like beating a average fighter. The guy is already old and slow. They should never mention JMM name as any of his great victories. The guy[Mayweather] is the biggest ***** in boxing and is a complete disgrace. He's a phony thats been sitting on 145 for a while now, but has rejected to fight any top rank fighter.

He fought an old De La hoya and still came out of weight to run from him. An old Gatti and A Battered Sharmba Mitchell a Carlos Manuel Baldomir that came from the land of the lost. An asked Ricky Hatton to do the thing he wants JMM Marguez to do. Mayweather is a disgrace to boxing and the farthest thing in boxing from a true warrior.
He's give a bad name to American boxers like Holyfield, Hearns, Ali, etc.

            • I think Floyd should use Manny as a warm up to JMM!!!

This is not a strong welterweight division, especially now that paul williams left it has

Mosley (great but old as hills),
                Cotto and
Margarito (at least one of which -depending on wether you want to think Tony was cheating against Cotto or not- is not that special),
                Berto (largely unproven),
then the rest (among which I like Clottey)...

                compare to 10 years ago

De La Hoya, Trinidad, Whitaker, Quartey, then the next crop... Mosley, Forrest, Mayorga. This is nothing like that and it's not sensibly better than the one in which Mayorga, Spinks and Judah were dwelling in. Plaster or non-plaster.

Again, I am not interested in talking about Mayweather, I am talking about Zab Judah.

                • Manny Pacquiao is also a small guy that started fighting at 107. If he wants a tune up he should fight a welterweight, but he's just happy of making the weight to ask smaller guys to come-up and never fight a true welterweight. It a tactic he uses to avoid fighters being at their best.

So why doesn't he fight them then? He fought Carlos Manuel Baldomir
Sharmba Mitchell Zab Judah. He fights the ones that are much worst.
But yeah lets talk Judah who lost to Baldomire than after losing Mayweather finally accepted to fight him.

It is probably hard to understand this for you, but I am not making a point about Mayweather, or who he should fight.

I will summarize this for your limited abilities.

Someone I respect said Judah was not the man in 2005 (jreckoning). I believe I have strong grounds to disagree with him and I am interested in discussing this with him (and of course jabs, and possibly the other guy I did not know who made the post about Michael Spinks).

Not with someone who just showed they started watching the sport last week, like you. If you did, you would know that Judah-Mayweather was signed before Judah lost to Baldomir. Come back to talk to me, when you have learned about things that happened before last week.
