Floyd just doesn't want to drain weight and I see no point. I also don't see much point in this fight either although I think it is obvious he is doing it to set-up a fight with Pac (if he wins against Hatton).
The lower the weight Floyd goes now the more he risks showing up "flat" and being taken out of his game both Mentally and Physically for training because he will start to worry about making weight.
Even Freddie Roach has mentioned that a "catch-weight" would be best for Pac to fight Floyd at because it will take something away from Floyd before the fight.
If Floyd wants Pac at 147, since Pac already fought there and dominated Oscar there, he shouldn't really do a catch-weight because Roach will want the same thing.
Who knows what the layoff will do to hinder Floyd fighting at a high level let alone the weight issue.

bluffing and cute

Pac/JMM are rivals, so your saying Pac can do it and JMM can't?
145/143 is not asking much considering JMM is an elite fighter right?
Plus PBF is coming out of retirement and maybe a lil rusty. I hear
so many excuses on here that it's ridiculous.

will get his schooling and then he ends it off with beating Cotto up and
then retires again the P4P#1 fighter in the world ;-) He's smart. I don't
think Floyd will come back for only two fights. He's going for the status
and to silence the critics and get paid big time while doing it.
Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostI'm not cherry picking at all, because I'm talking about stacking the cards so as to make it less competetive (at least in theory) than it should be. Oscar stacked the cards a little bit over the ring size, the gloves, and a lot over the share of the purse, but he was not stacking the cards over the weight. No one was claiming that he was a natural Welterweight or that he could easily move down if he wanted to. And even if he had been a natural Welterweight, [I]Floyd would have wanted the fight to be at 154, in order to be able to get his belt, so it wasn't a case of Oscar trying to force Floyd to fight at a higher weight than he felt able to.
Like I said before he was stacking the cards in his favor. Just like PBF is. How is irrelevant. One is not better or more acceptable than the other. Trying to point out the lesser of the two IS cherry-picking.
Are we playing the if game too now?
Floyd wasnt chasing Oscars belt he wanted the money that comes with facing Oscar. The belt was bonus. He was man enough to fight Oscar AT OSCARS WEIGHT. Dont try and take it away from him.
he was out of his comfort zone. Settled for all of Oscar's demands
without arguing about it. Gloves, Ring, weight, $......and still won,
it was close but why wouldn't it be, especially if your in Oscar's house?
He was the bigger man with all the odds stacked in his favor, but you
can't explain and tell that to most on here because then your a Floyd
nut hugger or Cheerleader? Wow, I've been out of public school for a
long time sometimes on here I feel like Deja Vu with the name
calling. Anyways Floyd paid the cost to be the boss, so God bless him.

I will summarize this for your limited abilities.
Someone I respect said Judah was not the man in 2005 (jreckoning). I believe I have strong grounds to disagree with him and I am interested in discussing this with him (and of course jabs, and possibly the other guy I did not know who made the post about Michael Spinks).
Not with someone who just showed they started watching the sport last week, like you. If you did, you would know that Judah-Mayweather was signed before Judah lost to Baldomir. Come back to talk to me, when you have learned about things that happened before last week.
there is more that goes on in the sport that guys who just started to
watch don't know. You can also add that All the guys Floyd fought
at Welter had titles with exception to Sharmba Mitchell & Ricky Hatton
but he made the most sense $ wise. If people really do the knowledge
all the moves Floyd made at Welter was to get to Oscar to become the
person he is now and having a notable position to be able to call shots
and make the most $ LIKE OSCAR. Floyd was already solidified at 130-135
the guy is going down as the #1/2 Jr Lightweight in the Sport, his place
in history is stamped. I do want to see him fight Mosley/Cotto though.

I watch boxing and have many favorite fighters and can see who's
who and what's what. I like Manny Pacquiao and always enjoy
watching him fight as well as Floyd Mayweather Jr, JMM, Paul Williams,
Ricky Hatton Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Bernhard Hopkins,
James Kirkland, Alfredo Angulo, Vic Darchynian. I have my
favorites but I don't blind myself to others. I think the biggest
thing that erks me on here is that instead of people explaining
why they feel a certain way about a certain fighter or breaking
down their reasons on why they feel a certain way about a fighters
chances against another, they prefer to call names and never
back up their claims of knowing or explaining why we differ on opinions.
With that said, I don't knock Manny's achievements or capabilities, I'm
just not totally sold on everything like many others and that goes for
other fighters as well. Don't expect to agree with everyone all the time
but won't knock a person if we don't.
