I know for a fact that Whitaker landed more punches than DLH.

        • Taylor got KTFO.

Every round is the same. If fights gets stop with 10 secs to go in the first round, why not in the 12.

Taylor was really hurt and he couldnt continue, hey may have been winning on points, but well he got KOd.
What would of happend is steele let the fight continue and Taylor got hurt for life. Like brain damage or something?

          • [QUOTE=blackirish137;4997208]Its not an explanation. I mean, lets face it, anything could have happened at that point.

even if Steele took time to send Chavez to a neutral corner, the count still would have been the same, because theres a guy counting ringside. its his job.

First off, the fight itself was stopped at 5 seconds left, its just on the record books as two. but the fight clock was at 5. whats more, Steele took a lot of time talking to Taylor after the 8 count was finished.

Every replay I have seen of that fight shows 2 seconds. But even if it was 5 that was not enough time for Chavez to score a knockout. Chavez has never been a one punch KO artist and Tayor certainly had more than 5 seconds of fight left in him. Anybody who sees it differently is attempting to rewrite the story of the fight. Taylor got screwed that night

The definition of a KTFO iswhena fighter who is unable to beat the count of 10. Your theatrics don't change the truth of what happened.

watch the ending for yourself. go to 9:07. when Taylor hits the deck, its either 16 or 17 seconds left. they probably should have picked up the count at 16. now go to 9:20. Steele waves off the fight with 5 seconds left.

so my point stands. in a world of perfect reffing, Chavez would have had 8 seconds to end the fight.
even if Taylor would have actually answered Steele, Chavez would have had 5or 6 seconds left.
which would not have been impossible at all, seeing as other fighters have been able to do the same thing against less damaged opponents.
Although I definately can not guarentee it would have happened.

Also a ref stops it based on a fighter not being fit to continue. It means he can get the medical help he needs quicker.

The ref shouldnt be thinking about how long is left in the fight, and the distance of the other fighter, and whether or not he can run across the ring and land another shot etc.

A ref has to say either yes or no, on the spot, and forget all the other ****.

He made the right choice IMO. Because he was just doing his job.

Two seconds when the actual time keeper stopped the fight.

5 seconds going into 4 is when it was actually stopped by the ref.

and you're going to have to watch Mosley Mayorga one more time to see what can happen with 5 seconds left on the clock.
