jsut checked, and Taylor hit the floor with 16 seconds left on the clock. so in theory, Chavez would have had 8 seconds to finish the fight after the mandatory 8 count.
I dont think he would have been able to do actually, but its not impossible.
Wish they would have had an immediate rematch.

Especially since Steele knew there was little time left in the round If Steele was so worried about the punishment Taylor was taking he would have stopped it earlier. That explanation is bull****. Taylor deserved the chance to finish the fight he was winning.

any way the point i'm tryin to make is that it is not that easy to tell who is doin the most damage as far as the chavez taylor fight taylor lost he seemed to be winning he didn't answer the question he lost **** it
another way to tell is simply seeing how much of an impact the punch made on the opponent. if it was a clean shot... in other words the other guy didnt turn away from it, didnt partially block it, etc...then you should assume it does more damage, because thats how boxing works. if you see their body shudder a little bit from a body shot, their head gets jerked badly from a punch, their jaw or face gets rearranged momentarily...then chances are, that punch did a lot of damage. you can usually tell when a punch has power behind it anyway, because of the landing fighters' body mechanics.
boxing is not easy to score because of this, which is why in some cases there is no true, clear cut winner. but for the most part boxing isnt that hard to score if you notice these things, unless you have to choose in round that truly could go either way.
and i didnt have diaz ahead in the fight when he got stopped, but he did enough damage in some rounds to get them. just fell behind in the overall damage done department.

Uh, no. Chavez was right behind Steele. It's very clear on the tape. Under the rules he had to be in a neutral corner. Andrade may have been, at the most, slightly out of his corner. The TV cameras weren't focused on him. Meldrick Taylor got screwed out of a win.
