I think Bernard is the smartest fighter of the last 40 years so I know better than to call JMM smarter than him, but that just says a lot about JMM and how smart he is in that ring.

Nah, I judge what I think. I'm Mexican, but not from Mexico. I judge based on accomplishments. If there are no good Puerto Rican fighters at or around 135, that shouldn't hurt Marquez. What's he supposed to do? Travel back in time and make Wilfredo Gomez bone a medium sized chick, in hopes that they pop out a lightweight?

Mexico just tends to appriciate fighters with more will than skill. Mental strenghth is just admired more than actual technical skill.

it's not a bad thing if you think about it.

Thanks for letting the truth out.

But no, Dinamita as wonderful a fighter as he is, is nowhere near being the greatest Mexican fighter ever.
First of all, I said the douche bag thing because I was trying to get under your skin. I detracted because I thought it was ****** and not something that was needed.

Nonetheless, you caught it before I made the change. That's fine.

As far as hating Chavez, I don't. Good fighter. But, overrated by Mexicans. Underrated by non-Mexicans. I just happen to think Lopez is better. And I happen to think Marquez has a very good chance to become better as well. You seem like the type of fan who just likes MUCH different styles of fighters than I do. That's fine.

I don't know if you noticed but the sterotypical mexican fighters have become harder and harder to find beacause Mexico has started to produced fighters that are more dedicated to Technical perfection rather than sheer brutality.

However, it is bad when the fans get so hyped by that ONE style that they underappreciate the attempts at good technical skill and boo the guy out of the building for being smart.

personally I'd rank those 4 like this

Salvador Sanchez > Julio Cesar Chavez = Ricardo Lopez > Juan Manuel Marquez

Chavez has just as many flaws as Ali did. The just had a kind of folk hero aura that just can't be explained or duplicated.

Yeah, that has a lot to do with the crossover situation happening with trainers. Fighters like James Kirkland fight more like a Mexican than a fighter like Humberto Soto.
