So who was the man for so many years? Go ahead I'll wait.

Also note Jones of 2008 knew who "the man" was in 2008 because he said he would go to Wales and fight Joe.......

Joe never wanted to go to THE MAN'S house when he was THE MAN....
He didn't deserve to be #1, anyone unbiased with a shred of knowledge knows this. You don't jump from way outside the top to #1 in one fight. Did Buster Douglas? Nope. Jones wasn't the man, he was an HBO hypejob who made a career avoiding top competition.

And Calzaghe publiclly said he'd fight him in his backyard.

What do you mean he wasn't in the USA? You do know they showed his fights here, right?

And what does Hopkins pricing himself out have to do with Calzaghe? Only in your mind is it a duck.

The offer was made to Jones by Showtime, it was around $6m...you've never heard this?

I'll have a look for the article for you.

Yes - of course I have. I was actually following boxing when it happened. You kill me, man. When Jones was negotiating with HBO for a NEW CONTRACT. Like their poster boy was going anywhere.

Be serious. Unfortunately for you I'm full of energy today and eager to post. So bring me some more BS so I can flush it down the toilet.

I dont remember Joe getting much love in his OWN country. They didnt think he was anything special until he beat the overly hyped lacy no?

I dont understand why this cat is saying "we knew how good he was"......

                No they didnt! lol

Prime, nowhere near peak though. He was around 220lbs and had to boil down to 168 in 6 weeks. Who's the idiot? lol

Didn't think you could refute that.

I said he was being slept on in the USA pre-Lacy, I didn't say you didn't see is fights. He fought on Showtime.

Hopkins pricing himself out of a CAREER HIGH payday has alot to do with it, you're saying "who was Calzaghe back then"....I'm telling you Calzaghe was the man that the Executioner ducked.

Hopkins pricing himself out has nothing to do with Calzaghe. Why are you pretending these things happened in a vacuum?

These guys like to pretend Calzaghe was like Margarito back then; unknown and being ducked. Nah man, he was more like unknown and no one cared. Aside from Ottke, no one even thought he was good enough to duck. Like I said, that ****'s the equivalent of someone saying Mayweather was ducking Timothy Bradley. What if Bradley goes on to have a similar career to Calzaghe? Can you imagine some idiot saying Floyd ducked him way back then? Well we're following the sport so we can refute that. Same way we're refuting this horse****.
