Well they show NFL from 18:00 until 04:30 every sunday while the season is on, that 4 full games, SKY have 1 hour long preview programme if there is a big fight and a 2 hour slot on a friday from 22:00 until 0:00.Get the *** out of here with that Hammer dude lol
Figures show me some muthaf8cking figures saying that.....
So the Air time speaks for itself. They don't release viewing figures so it's impossible for me to prove that side but why would you show 8 hours of a live sport thats less popular than one you show 2 hours of? It doesn't make sence.Comment

but nah mate im not buying that..
They show bowls nearly everyday do you mean to tell me bowling is more popular then boxing?
You have dug yourself a hole here Hammer lolComment

The BBC show bowls because the BBC sucks and has no real sports anymore, they don't even show england rugby or football matches. They show bowls nearly everyday do you mean to tell me bowling is more popular then boxing?
I'm talking about SKY a dedicated sports channel that has contracts for both NFL and boxing.
Why do we pay for a TV licence again?Comment

He ain't saying it is more popular but NFL today as been on sky allday. It was on from 11am til 7ish today. Boxing was on skysports 1 for 30mins before. NFL gets alot more television time on sky than boxing does on Setanta, bbc and Sky put together.Comment

I did - I went and loved it. It helped that it was a game between two teams with zero defence, but I'll be going again next year.
The only thing that irritates me is the fact that the US fans, despite having 60% of the time to wander about getting their fast food, would still standup just as the ball was being snapped.
Seriously do the people who go even like the sport? Maybe it was because they were expats rather than hardcore fans.Comment

no way, dude. i'm a big reggie/saints fan, too. but no. totally different kind of stamina needed for rugby.
i'm a big fan of both. i got into the 6 nations tournament when i was studying in italy. they're really pretty different sports that require different kinds of skills.Comment

Sports in UK in order of popularity (OptimusWolfs own opinion)
Football
cricket
rugby union
tennis
F1
golf
boxing
rugby league
snooker
This is predominantly judged on a "who is more likely to win sports personality of the year" type test of mainstream popularity.
Rugby league gets plenty of fans in the north but in the mainstream nobody cares. cricket gets relatively few fans but everybody knows what is going on.
(Association) Football is by far the most popular sport, and so it should be, it is the greatest fusion of athleticism and skill in any sport. Boxing is probably a close second and thats why I love them.Comment

rugby and NFL are so different it isn't worth a serious comparison. Rugby players need huge stamina and the ability to take sustained punishment. the NFL is all about tiny margins and short bursts of high performance.
Imagine Jonah Lomu in the NFL though...Comment
