I can sit and watch cricket, but baseball has to be the single most boring 3 hours you can ever spend in front of a TV set.
Test cricket is worse, 5 days of nothing except Ashes 05

One of my friends is a big rugby player and he said the styles are completely different

if you hit someone in rugby the way you hit people in football it would just be a lot of injuries.

But im not an expert on rugby so i cant really judge

i know some Americans will come on and say thier is plenty of skill involved but how much skill can be involved at the end of the day you are crunching people with tackles and throwing a ball their maybe different formations and plays but thats about it as far as skill goes it seems

I actually agree with you. Not to say there isn't some skill involved but for the most part being strong and fast will take you a long way. There were a few players on my HS football team who never even played before and after just a few years they became some of the best players in the city. This cannot happen with a sport like basketball, soccer, or baseball. Boxing is deceivingly difficult too despite the fact that on the surface it just seems like a brute sport.

Concerning the NFL in the UK, I was watching a show about this and even the American TV company was mocking how unpopular it was there by going up and interviewing people in the street and asking them what they thought. Everyone pretty much said they didn't care about it.

                    From Wiki answers:

Skills needed to become an NFL Player

You need agility, desire, confidence, BC vision, speed, tackling, and dedication. You need speed to out run and score a touchdown. To be confident that you are going to score a touchdown and you are going to win. Need agility to juke and and try and get away a break for some yds, or if you are a receiver you need to know how to break free on your routes. You need to know how to tackle if you are going to play defense. Dedication to the game is important because you are dedicating what you have to try and get your team a w. BC vision to be able to look down field and say I am going to burn this guy catch there ball and score so my team can win. Desire is also a important factor in the game because you want to win and desire the win. Those are the key skills to football and be good at the game.

I think it's because it's more "Nature" oriented than the other sports so it works more with you natural ability and instincts than the others; that's the main focus.

                      It's the same with Rugby.

NFL Football and Rugby are Hunting sports...Soccer and Baseball aren't.
