He also lost to Pernell Whitaker. All in all, he is still an ATG and damn dude that was a low blow

I find it interesting how many people have Pea winning that fight. I love Pernell but honestly I just can't see it.

And no, at this point I can't satand Oscar anymore, but that doesn't change the facts.

You make a list of a hundred better fighters than Oscar and I PROMISE I can tear down enough names and resumes to put Oscar on that list. If you want, you can go to the boxing history section and use Bert Sugars top 100 as a reference.
Ok, I'll list as many as I can think of: Ali, SRL, SRR, Holy, Holmes, Lewis, Duran, Benny L, Wilde, Greb, Hop, Hagler, M Spinks, RJJ, Foster, Archie, Whitaker, JCC, MAB, Morales, Arguello, Griffith, Armstrong, Perez, Basillo, Carbajal, Pep, Saddler, Ike, Monzon, Tunney, Dempsey, Nelson, C Ortiz, Pryor....without looking at some ranking list to refresh my memory that's all I can list for now. And all of them are better than DLH an all were the legit champ and beat the best in their division at one time.

I've always respected Whitaker, I think he beat Chavez, but not DLH.

Having said that I know it is irrelevant as it is what the records say that count. I agree with a lot of what you say. It is a significant black mark against De la Hoya that he never beat the best or completely cleared a division. I accept there is a very legitimate argument for him not being an ATG, I just sit on the other side of it.

I also accept that I may be partially biased on this subject. I have always been an Oscar fan so it may be a little difficult for me to approach this debate with complete objectivity.
Danc, you're one of the posters I respect so I'll indulge this - truthfully, I hate the Oscar-Tito debate.

I have watched that fight about TWICE my whole life (just too horrible a fight) and not only was I unimpressed by what Oscar did the last quarter of the fight, I didn't think he was too great the first half. I don't know how people say he swept the first x rounds...we can start with round two, which he lost. And a couple others. He was ahead but not so much that he could run. And he lost every round in the latter quarter of the fight.

You ask me how I scored it. I didn't. Oscar robbed us of a true ending. He was well ahead...why didn't he continue to "box?" Because he was tired...and knew that if he continued, he would've been stopped. And that much was obvious.

No one won. They both lost.

Thats 37 names I think, and I can already tell you he was better than Azumha Nelson and Micheal Carbajal, with one or two thers I may or may not be able to make a case against. This leaves you with AT LEAST 65 more names to go. Not so easy, is it?

Carbajal beat the best in his division something DLH never did so for a time he was the best at his weight something DLH has never been. And yes doing it from memory without looking at a list of ATG's it's not easy.

Undecided, basically for the reason that "ATG" is so subjective.

He's a first-ballot HOFer, but ATG, well what are we talking about? Top 30 ever? Top 50 ever?

                      Anyone in the top 100?
